Some what, but also not at all. Of course it might be annoying that the kids stand on the roof of the bicycle-shed and can look straight down into my yard, but most of the time they are there, I am also there... :)
Of course there is not really any going out if you skip work- but I love my work and never skip a day just for the hell of it. :)
Then there is the constant running into parents whose kids I work with - but Ialready do that. I now live less than 800 meters or so from my workplace, and the groceryshops are just 50 meters from my frontdoor. I also became the teamleader (not captain) of Annas soccer-team, so you might say I am already a very big part of the community here. I like it that way - it makes me feel safe for my kids. :)

But the thought did cross my mind, that should I ever get laid off from work it would be extremely (bordering insanely) annoying living right next to my old workplace. But I feel extremely safe in my work - since I can do something nobody else can do at my work, and my boss is targettting me to be the big cahuna regarding a new system that is going to be built in to the institutions all over the "kommune" (municipality?).

That's what I thought, dont you feel being in work all the time?

On the other hand, part of my family lives in a similar way. Forgetting the nuances of ownership conditions during PRL their living place is simply one of the school's wing and they are both teachers employed there for almost three decades.

They are very sociable persons, so I dont think theyd want to live somewhere else. If you feel it's ok - well, go for it. 8)

Hmmmm - not so happy anymore... The bank said no... But it seems they did some miscalculations, so perhaps they will change their mind when they redo the math... I am not too sure I want them to, as it seems we might sit in a more tight economical spot than I thought. I am not sure I want to pay that price to get a house NOW - if we wait a year the prices will belower (most likely) and our savings will be bigger.

And to answer your question eMTe - I sometimes do feel like I am at work all the time, but then again - I love my work. :) Of course there are times, where you just want someone to leave you alone and realise that they are using your private time to discuss work - or when you bump into them intown when you are out drinking... Not so cool - I believe I described how that went in another thread some weeks ago. :(

Sidetopic. One of my girlfriends was a kindergarten teacher and she simply LOVED all her kids, but she also hated their parents. Hopefully it doesnt work that way in all cases.

As for banks, cant you just go to another bank?

Yep, but it seems like it would be a bad idea to move from one bank that knows us very well, to another bank that doesn't know us,but will loan us the money. Do you see my point? :)
Seems like it would be rather much like shooting oneself in the foot from the get-go. Like asking one parent, getting a no, and then going to the other afterwards. Nothing good will come from that. At least not as I see it.

Sure, but my friends had similar problem a year ago and ended up walking from bank to bank (successsfully, but after many tries).

Me, to the contrary, being a loyal customer for many years needed a quick loan several years ago and received it. The situation was special and taking things according to bank rules I should have not received it, but I did. Eventually it occurred that I didnt even have to pay the interest, so it was something of the favour, requiring several calls between local office and somebody higher, but anyway. So I perfectly understand you that it's better to keep to one bank.

Well, I am happy, because I return to work tomorrow, besides it's springtime and I feel like soon returning to running after a winter break. Sitting at home makes me definitely less happy.

I am happy, because I visited Decathlon today - looking for certain accessory for my weight - but having not found it I left the shop with new running shoes, pants and wristband instead. Looks like my running sessions will start really early this year - maybe even in upcoming week?

I hope they will. Its is amazing when you get an early start to your running season. Then it seems you get the better of the seasons all your running year. The looks and feels of spring, the warmth of summer and then when it starts to cool down then you get the lovely feeling of accomplishment when you can run for an hour straight in crappy weather - gives you a Rocky 3 feeling (you knwo when he is training in the wilderness/nature to beat Dolph Lundgren). And then you get to sign up to a gym for the winter and run on treadmills and enjoy that you can still run and keep your shape even though it is cold outside.

Who needs a gym during winter? For real runners the outdoor season never ends... :P

I guess you are just that much south of me that you can run all winter. When ice starts hitting the street here there is no way I can run, and also when the cold really hits, then my astma starts kicking in unfortunately. That limits my runs to around 1k before I have to stop. Trust me - I would rather run outside. I get bored on the treadmills, but luckily I found a time slot that I can run in that also is the timeslot where some of my favourite TV-shows are on. So I can run and watch them at the same time, but without sound - so luckily they are subtitled. :)
Bones for the win!

Well, I am a year-round runner by heart, but I also like to have a little extended tummy during winters, so I dont run when it gets cold. :)

It falls under Readers Club probably, but reading makes me happy, so be it. I almost finished The Fifth Woman by Mankell, one of his finest books. It falls under Middle of the Night thread also, because Ive been reading the book almost the whole last night (usual for Mankell books, they dont allow sleeping). So now, only Firewall remains and I will be done with Wallander series. :)

Maria and I went to a few estate sales today. One we were originally not going to go to, as it is across state line in Wisconsin, and we were not sure if we would have time for it. We wanted to be home by 5 PM. As it turned out, we had time.

Very glad we went to this one. We got there, and after a few minutes of browsing, we found GOLD. In one room of the house it was in, was BOXES of model trains from the 1960s through 1980s. The guy told us there were about 500 freight cars, about 80 passenger cars, and 50 locomotives. Plus a bunch of track and model buildings to go with.

I asked him how much for all. He told me $250 if we get it all out today. He just wanted to get rid of the stuff, it seemed, and there was only an hour left of the sale, it was the last day of the sale, and he even said that he didn't want to bother with it all on eBay.

So, Maria and I stuffed her car with boxes of trains. I ended up holding Skoda on my lap. She has a Jeep Cherokee, a fairly roomy vehicle, and we barely fit it all in.

Most of the trains are plastic models, so will end up being more-or-less Skoda's trains to play with when she is older. Mostly later production than what I focus on collecting, but I was not going to say no to that deal!

Congrats, eMTe. Hope it works for you.

Where did you meet her? I still fondly remember Maria and I first meeting. Was on bus 2337, on the Washington Street bus.

Funny, she had the same unit, and same route when I first asked her out! Earned 2337 the nickname of "magic bus".

Happy today because I did over $2,000 in sales at my shop!
