Captain Binary

Post by eMTe »

Superb, but very difficult shooter with great graphics.

Earth has been attacked by aliens and because Superman is too busy doing next movie about himself the crisis can only be solved by a new superhero: Captain Binary!

CB has to fight through three different levels full of enemies that are well equipped: lasers, machineguns, flying sources, armors and many more. At the end of each level our hero will have to fight with dangerous boss!

But Captain Binary doesn't have to fight with bare hands. He always carries his superhero pistol with unlimited ammo. During fights he also can pick special equipment like: machinegun, RPG or laser. He is also well trained in close-combat.

Anyone got past first screens at least?

I remember only one harder game - Doom II on nightmare level. This game is demanding...

Yes, I'll add more info to first post soon. 8)

I never got further than to the first boss. This game is really incredible hard, but it is still great fun to play...

I did make it to the second boss - the wrecking ball. That one was too much of a nightmare, though I'm sure I can probably beat it on my next try and make it to stage 3.

Hard - yes. Frustrating - yes. Fun - yes.

Kapitan Binary clearly owes a lot to Earthworm Jim (it's kind of like a simplified Earthworm on speed). It isn't as complex (nowhere near) and isn't as humorous. It's more about blast while you last. The controls make your fingers want to snap, but I found it worthwhile to jump with SPACE, shoot with E and grenade with W - that gave it a more natural finger placement. It still hurt after 10 minutes of playing.

Aiming was too hard when it came to diagonal shots, which was a pain. Also dodging shots was harder than it had to be - you should have been able to duck instead of having to jump all the time.

It's still a very lovable platform shooter, with some nicely detailed graphics to boot.

LEts agree that this is a great game. HOWEVER - it is WAY too hard. You really need some difficulty settings, since most gamers will quit the game before they get past the first level. IT is a real shame, since Captain Binary really has something to offer.
Difficulty draws down alot, but graphics and humour in opening screen (copy of San Andreas Characters during credits) draws it up
