Scary music and sounds

Post by Chroelle »

I need some scary music and sounds for a party... I have been searching the web, but most of what comes up is related to space or futuristic horror... I need classic horror.
We are having a Dracula party at my workplace, and I am in charge of the background noise (music and FX). If you have an idea where to get some, or if you are the lucky owner of some...please drop me a note...
I got lucky a few times before searching through games and finding sounds, so if you have a game that could have a sound that fits the description please go look...
Also if somebody has some Cembalo music....

Try searching for the Tim Burton's Ed Wood-soundtrack by Howard Shore, some good theremin 50s ufo-horror music there.

Also, Danny Elfman might have something. Mike Oldfield's tune Tubular bells (A.K.A. The theme from Exorcist), the theme from Halloween by John Carpenter, Bernard Hermann's Psycho theme, Harry Manfredini's theme from Friday the 13th, Wojciech Kilar's music from Bram Stoker's Dracula... also The theme from Clockwork orange by Walter Carlos / Wendy Carlos is really creepy.

Silent Hill-soundtracks are also a good bet..

And for the grande finale; http://www.mikseri.net/artists/skaven.33783.php <- Download "Catch that goblin!!" :D

ohh I could have used that catch that goblin in an animation I had to do last year... although the one I used worked quite well I think, but I don't think its fitting for what you want chroelle.

Silent hill music would be great for it :D

Tubular bells, would be one of the better tracks to use as people normally think 'horror' with that music.

I have gone hunting for sounds from Silent Hill and actually found some... Downloading now, and hoping they will be goog for the project.
I searched through a whole lot of the games we have on the site, and found some stuff too, and then I went for my classic "sound game" cossacks for scream, clanks and such. Unfortunately Sanitarium didn't have a wav or mp3 file for the sound... That would have been SWEET!
