I did some research on "Ufo: Enemy unknown" and things are a bit complicated. Game was first published by MicroProse (not Microsoft as I thought). Developer was Julian Gollop and I think I found a working mail adress of this guy: [email protected] (but I´m not sure if he owns the rights of the game).

Later Microprose was shut down and all the rights of their games went to Hasbro Interactive. This company was also sold some years later to Infogrames which now belongs to Atari.Inc.

If you want to try asking for the rights, here´s a contact link:

It links to international contact adresses of "Infogrames" and "Atari Inc.". Just click on it and you will see there´s a whole list with offices all over the world.

I will just copy this into our brand new subforum. Abandonware to Freeware. This will open up to this particular subject.

I sent a mail to Julian Gollop. (Maybe we should ask him for an interview?)
I hope that he will give us some info on either who has the copyright, who should we mail to, or that he has influence and that we can host it...

Hey, you can post in this forum without logging in. Bad thing for me because I often forget... ;)

Interview with Julian Gollop would be great (sometime in the future). In my eyes he developed one of the all-time-classics (comparable with "Pirates" and "Elite") which is still fun to play after all the years. That should be worth an interview.

Guest posting is fixed now...

I was thinking the same thing. But if we want to keep to our niche, then we need to get UFO:Enemy Unknown on to this site.
(But maybe there is an exception to every rule...)

That "looks good". I didn't see any screenies of it, hence the "".

I haven't received answer form developer yet, which can mean one of more things:
1: He is not interested in communicating (he might get a ton of these mails a day)
2: He thought the message was spam and deleted it.
3: He is currently looking into matters and is hence not reporting back (yet).
4: The mailadress we found is no longer operational.

Either way, I need a NEXT STEP to proceed here...
