Stupid laws.
For instance, in Queensland Australia our criminal code states you must not wear slippers outside your home after 2100. Bizarre! But when the code was written the assumption was slippers were worn instead of boots so you could move quietly around while you went about the business of burglary. The code also stipulates the maximum punishment for burglary (2100 and 0600) differs from mere housebreaking which is a daylight crime. Well the slippers law is really dumb, I would be surprised if any constable has ever arrested someone for this.

You mean like how in Wichita, Kansas (Where I lived at one point), there was a law fromt he days of the Old West that required a person to fire a shotgun before crossing Douglas Avenue?
Anyway, as far as dumb laws goes, sometimes they do have serious ramifications in the modern world. For example: Kansas law allowed, until very recently, a girl of 14 to get married without parental consent. Not too long ago (A few weeks ago, really) this law was finally changed, after a pregnant 14 year old and her 23 year old boyfriend from the state of Nebraska crossed state line to Kansas and... legally got married. (And he's now sitting in jail on sexual assault charges anyway).

As far as I know Denmark has a law in the old law books (that are still valid) that a man has to walk in front of your automobile waving a flag so that pedestrians won't get run over... Poor man, now that we've got freeways... But then again, we also build better running shoes these days

I am interested to hear what this loophole was?
Our city has just created one that says you are not allowed to enter a club after 3.00am on Saturday morning. The first trains and buses are not until 6.00am and you can wait over an hour for a taxi at that time. Apparently people are supposed to just wander the streets drunk.

There's more to this story than I remember; something about on law taking precedence over the other; technicalities and the like. But what I do remember is that the 24 hours was nothing more nor nothing less than a typoI am interested to hear what this loophole was?

'nother one: up until a few years ago Mexican law prohibited you from "dishonouring national symbols" by doing things like wearing a t-shirt with the Mexican flag on it =D
