Pino's Tower

Post by bsi »

Hi,

I write you to show a game I realized with Game Editor (http://www.game-editor.com). It is an early 80s style platform game with game mechanics similar to donkey kong and manic miner.

It can be downloaded for free (both the windows binary and the source code) at http://www.bluestarinteract.altervista.org/

The video trailer on youtube is available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oE35UAP1S3Q

Following is a brief description of the game:

Pino's Tower is a early 80s style platformer where the player has to collect all the fruits present in the level to access the next level. By jumping from platform to platform the player must collect the five fruits in a level while avoiding different type of enemies. The contact of the player with one enemy results in death and the loss of one of the five lives.

Looks very Donkey Kongish, indeed.

Besides, you just let me (and probably others too) know about another game creation tool that I didnt know. :D

I was the 522nd person visiting your site, I believe you dont get much publicity yet. And so the Game Editor, which must have been released quite recently, am I right?

The game trailer pretty nice. Looks exactly like that kind of game that I'd like to play. Will download it and tell you what I think.

P.S.: According to the rules I changed the thread's topic into "Pino's Tower".

Warning!!!

As good as this game looks, but I'm not going to touch it. When I checked the file Avira Antivir found something called TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen. So I definitely won't install the game as long as this problem remains.

That is probably a false positive. I guess the game executable is compressed in a way that many malware and such are and that triggers that response. I ran the file on Virustotal and only AntiVir thought it was a virus. Of course, I can't be sure.

This is probably a problem of Avira Antivirus.

It has been reported also on another game created with game editor http://game-editor.com/forum/viewtopic. ... Gen#p72353

The windows binary doesn't install any file on the hard disk. The game is launched with the .exe file.

Ok, so it probably is a false alarm. I know that it happens sometimes, but it is still a problem. I think that most Antivir users won't install it as long as there is the slightest doubt. Anything you can do about it? I remember that we had a similar case before with the cardgame "One". After we reported the problem to the developer, he changed something and the virus scanners doesn't report anything any longer.
