However, that's not all as Double Fine is also planning to work on a new adventure game! Yes, an adventure game that will at least be somewhat related to dynamic duo of Schafer and Ron Gilbert. And the real kicker here is the way they are trying to fund the game. Well, I don't know why they just don't ask Notch and Dragocen again, because both of those guys are loaded but they made up a Kickstarter page to fund it.
Some news sites claim the game would be by these two, but I think they're reading too much into it. The Kickstarter page clearly states that
I don't know how familiar you're with the Kickstarter thing, but basically you pledge money for a project (and you only pay if the project gets totally funded) and there are some rewards for big pledges. And Tim Schafer does not disappoint. For a mere $30,000 you will get a picture of Ron Gilbert smiling. Put in a 5k more and you get an "undoctored picture of Ron Gilbert smiling."a small team under Tim Schafer's supervision will develop Double Fine's next game, a classic point-and-click adventure.
Anyway, for a pledge of $15 you'll get the finished game once it's ready. The project will go forward if it gets $400,000 by March 14th and in less than a day the project already has over $280,000 pledged.
edit: It actually hit the $280k in less than 5 hours. So.
edit: The project has hit the target of 400k in 8 hours. However, more money means more budget, which can mean more platforms, translations etc.
