Survival Crisis Z

Post by Pater Alf »

A zombie game with RPG elements. Might be the right zombie game for Chroelle as it is possible to survive. The game is completely non-linear and leaves the choice how to play it to the player. You can loot empty houses to get ammo, food and equipment or you can buy it from other survivors, you can work for team leaders (and do missions for them) or you can fight them to become a leader yourself, you can play as a SWAT member, a rebel or a neutral person, you can fight the zombies or try to avoid them. Only the ultimate goal always stays the same: Dicover the source of the plague.

There's also an arcade mode where the goal is simply to kill as many zombies as possible (which means it's more or less a "normal zombie game).

:Chroelle steps in wielding his trusted new-found friend - "the zombiekiller" - a shotgun.:

It seems I have found a new kind of gametype that I am falling for. :)

This is pretty hard to get a hang of. Aiming and controlling the character is pretty hard, and as soon as zombies appear, you are just firing your gun at anything, because it is hard to tell what is what, and what way you are pointing your gun. This is mostly bad luck when you just assembled a party of survivors that join you to try and survive, and when the first 2 zombies attack your group of 10, no one but you is left standing (as you shot everybody!) It is very confusing, and the lack of real landmarks in the city also makes you want to just start moving in some direction and just keep going, instead of trying to actually get somewhere.
The arcade mode is very fastpaced, and most of the time I was just running backwards firing my gun at the angry z-mob chasing me from the get-go.
But this has potential for sure. If only there was some type of tutorial, and better aiming function.

Try the story mode instead (I think it's easier to catch the basic rules and strategies with that) and of course use the map. You can avoid great hordes of zombies that way.

Aiming wasn't a big problem for me, in fact I thought it was pretty easy and the game did some thing like auto-aiming as I never did shoot someone from my group. But of course it was in story mode, the group was always quite small (max. 4 people) and most of them were pretty good fighters themselves, so I was able to spare my ammo.

I always ran into hordes even when using the map. And I was playing story mode... I have to open this up again to see if I can master it...
