Island

Post by Pater Alf »

"Island" is a desert island comedy adventure (might be a completely new genre). Help Benji to survive and escape from the island.

"Benji Rosenbloom is your average Joe on a plane journey minding his own business. However, his confidence in the safety of air travel is suddenly challenged when his plane crash lands on an island in the middle of nowhere and he finds himself to be the sole survivor. Initially disoriented, Benji soon befriends a young woman named Lola, one of a group of survivors of a shipwreck that occurred on the island some number of years before who have now come to make the island their home and learned to live at peace with a group of island natives.

I S L A N D puts you in the shoes of Benji, who, with Lola's help, must learn to integrate with both the Shipwreck survivors and the natives, while in the meantime search for a way home, avoid a band of incompetent pirates attempting to bully the island's people, and discover a series of bizarre truths about the island." (taken from the official homepage)

Fun to play mainly because of the well drawn cartoonish graphics and the good dose of humour. Great negative point is that you can't speed up text and dialogues.

Uh. Sorry Pater, but comedy adventures make up for large percentage of all games in genre. Serious adventures are in minority, especially freeware ones. It's tough to make serious adventure - by serious I mean having intelligent dialogues, believable settings, plot and characters and dealing with serious issues. Point and click adventures usually are on par with childish comic books, often being even less intelectually demanding.

Sounds pretty good. I think I will dig into this - perhaps after we get permission. (Do we just have to ask to get permission - I mean is it a yes already, or do we have to ask to see if it is a yes or a no? I am a bit puzzled by how you put it.)

I know that all games made with this engine have to be freeware, but I' not sure about redistribution. That's why we have to ask.
