Gravmari

Post by Pater Alf »

"Become the Playertoid, endlessly roaming the galaxy in search of additional matter to fuel further exploration. In the beginning, you are a mere chunk of rock, thrusting through the lonely vacuum of space. Whenever you collide and fully encompass debris, however, they become part of you. Thus, you can reach the size of an asteroid, a planet, or someday in the distant future, a star. Beware, though, as the stellar wastes can be dangerous! This is a game about understanding and manipulating gravity, and the mysterious infinity of the universe. Inspired by Katamari Damacy, the efforts of NASA, and dreams of floating endlessly through space, Hubris Arts presents: Gravmari." (taken from the official homepage)

Interesting even if I haven't find out how to really play this yet. I float through space, absorb debry and rocks, get bigger, suddenly the alarm starts and a short time later the game is over. Will see if I can find a manual or a tutorial somewhere...

Any luck with finding a manual for this? There are absolutely no files that would even look like a read-me in this download...

Couldn't find any contact info, and I am concerned wether this has something to do with the fact that at least one part of Hubris Art is writing from prison... Perhaps we can find them somewhere else...

Hello, I'm Luke Palmer, one of the devs.

I'm sorry you couldn't figure out how to play. We were kind of dumb back when we made this game, assuming people could figure it out, even as hard as it is toward the beginning. The idea is that you float around (using *acceleration* as your only means of travel, which can be a bit hard to get used to, but that's the way it would work in space) and absorb things that are small enough to absorb, which is about half your radius. Each time you absorb something you get fuel, and when you run out of fuel you die. So you have to keep the pace up.

We're both busy with our lives and another project at the moment (and neither of us is in prison... how'd you hear that?), but when we get a spare moment, we plan to make it easier at the beginning so people can get a feel for it.

Glad you guys are trying it out! Let me know if you have questions. We still think the game can be improved and would like to hear your feedback.

Welcome and thank you for explaining how to play this. In fact that is more or less what I tried to do when I played for the first time. I just wondered why I suddenly died even after I grew for a while. But maybe I was too slow with absorbing enough stuff. I will look at it again and give you some feed back what I think.

And I'm curious as well why Chroelle thought that one of you is in prison. Must be a very strange mistake.

When you play again, make sure to download the latest version from our site. We updated the early game to be more forgiving with your fuel tank, shortened the game over turnaround time (so it is quicker to try again), and shortened the middle level which used to get monotonous. Basically it's a better game than it was yesterday. Thanks for playing :-)

http://hubrisart.com/ Look to the right.

I might have jumped to conclusions, but lets be honest here: I was sick and overworked while trying to find dozens of developers all at once. But are you sure you're not in prison - perhaps an emotional or artistic one? Any kind of walled-up situation. Might have accidentally locked yourself in...?

If not, then I of course apologize. :)

But since we have you here: can we host the game on our site, if it fits the format? :)

Thanks! Someone please remind me to make the appropriate changes in our database...or...you know...do it yourself if possible. :)
