Team Fortress 2

Post by Zyx »

So, Valve released the Mac version and had a free weekend, which meant that this weekend I was the white earbuds wearing newb getting my ass kicked on this game. It's rather good team-based FPS, with a lot of humor. Although relatively old game, the age doesn't really show as it's been often updated with new content.

Has anyone of you played Team Fortress 2? It was quite nice playing on the internet with random people, but I guess the real point is to play with friends and cooperate.

How to get it? And was the free weekend only for Mac-users or for PC-users as well. I only played TF1 once and that was YEARS ago, and for 10 minutes or so.
I would possibly be up for a game. I loved playing Day of Defeat online which is from the same developers.
Currently testing Life version 2.9 (With added second child)

You need Steam, and it's free for both - but only Mac users get to wear white earbuds. And the free weekend last still about 6 hours, so there's still time to try it out.

I have faint memories of playing Team Fortress a really long time ago as well. TF2 is pretty different from it...

I've never played Day of Defeat, even though I've it (and the original TF) on my Steam account.

I can see on Steam that the game is 50% off this weekend as well. So its 9.99€ now.

And now, the premier war-themed hat simulator is free.... for ever. Or something.

Hats.

The recent influx of new players means that a casual player like me, who has just 30 hours into the game and just a few hats, is suddenly a pro.

I've been playing it for a bit this weekend and it has been a lot of fun. I never thought I'd be spawn-raping and dominating like this ever. I even managed to play a medic and end up the first on the leaderboard for the round - without killing anyone.

The game's replay feature is pretty nice, I'm a bit proud of this (but not as proud as doing the reverse of this, making the final capture from above) moment.

Explanation: there's a Spy who managed to slip into our base in the last seconds of the game but he was quickly burned to death by yours truly as the gender-ambiguous Pyro in an amazing feature of skill by bringing death from above. In the next game I managed to do the reverse, by being a Medic and teaming up with a Heavy and forcing our way through to the last capture point and taking the other team by surprise and winning it. Too bad I couldn't get that as a replay, because that was turly a great moment.

Sure, it's not fair because the teams are full of n00bs, but it's fun. Even before when I sucked, it was fun. Now it's more fun.

These are truly war stories to tell your grandchildren... :D
