Browser choice.
Well since Microsoft decided that they would make it up to the users to decide which browser they wanted to use I have been wondering which one I would switch to if I ever decided to do so. I am using IE myself, and occasionally Firefox. I can't help but like Firefox, but there is some an issue with the whole browser-skin being flooded very easily by all kinds of different gadgets. Also I don't like the download-box. But it runs smoothly and saves my passwords very nicely.
I have also been wondering if I should use Google Chrome. It really looks alot faster than the two already mentioned.
What is your choice and why would you choose to use another if needed, and of course which one?

I use Opera. And honestly, I love it. It's fast, slim, good looking and has some nice features that IE doesnt have at all but Firefox can add via plugins.
A few more features are listed on http://www.opera.com/browser

I use Safari on my Mac, Firefox on my work computer and Chrome on my Mac's Windows 7 partition. Each browser has its strengths. I could use any of those browsers on all three, but for some reason I have diversified.
I don't use any extensions or anything, so for me it's just down to what suits me best and has the right feel.

Re: Browser choice.
I've gone back to IE. I used Firefox almost religiously, but for some reason I couldn't stay logged into CWF.
The I switched over to Opera because someone at wokr recommended it, but then I went back to IE...version 8 right now. I don't mind it, plus it is what I am "allowed" to use at work, so I am somewhat used to it.
My wife uses Chrome. Facebook apps seems to work lightning fast with it.

Re: Browser choice.
First i used Internet Explorer, then i used Firefox, then i used Chrome, then i used Firefox, then i tried Opera but it didn't really fit my taste, so i stayed with Firefox. I think i prefer Chrome because it's really fast and it doesn't fill up very much space vertically (tabs in titlebar and such), but choose Firefox because Chrome was missing some extensions i often need, like download manager, flashblock, and the ability to save webpages as mht files (it's really irritating when it saves as html with files that have filenames so long it jams everything when you try to move or delete it.). A reason i don't use Internet Explorer is that it's interface uses too much space, and vertical screen space is critical on a netbook with only a resolution of 1024x600 pixels. Firefox i can customize to cram everything into minimal space.

Re: Browser choice.
I haven't. But some of them are browsers based on the same engine as the popular ones. for example, Firefox, K-Meleon and Flock are all based on the Gecko layout engine made by Mozilla. Internet Explorer, Maxthon, SlimBrowser, Avant Browser and GreenBrowser are based on the Trident engine by Microsoft. Sleipnir uses a combination of both engines.
... yeah, i just looked it up on wikipedia.

Re: Browser choice.
Cool. I wrote an article about the browserchoice on my blog, and I think I got a lot from this rather short debate. However I can always use more info from you guys about why you choose what you choose, as I still haven't settled all together.
I use FF on my laptop, and IE on my desktop, and I shift between the 2 at work. I am considering switching to Chrome at work. This way I get the best of 3 worlds for a while and can decide later which I like the best.

Nice one.
It indeed explains things very nicely.

Re: Browser choice.
I tend to stick with Firefox but it sometimes gets clogged up and becomes very slow. I should switch to chrome, but am too used to FF.

Re: Browser choice.
Hi Parvini. Long time no see. I have switched to Chrome at work, I am still running IE on my desktop, but I am now running Firefox on my laptop, so I get to try all three favourites out...
Has any of you tried Flock or Maxthon or one of the others?

I use Firefox, only because Chrome doesn't have the extensions i need. I haven't really tried any of the smaller alternative browsers.
