Patrimonium

Post by Pater Alf »

The game has finally been released and so I open a new thread in the freeware forum. For now "Patrimonium" is just available in German, but there should be an English translation soon.

"Patrimonium" is a point'n click adventure in (the tradition of the famous LucasArts games) with nice cartoonish graphics and some clever puzzles.

Hero of the game is a guy called Julian Hobler who one day gets a letter from his friend Dr. Peter Wonciek. Wonciek is on an excursion in egypt and very excited because he found an artefact that might solve the world's energy problems forever. Of course there are some evil guys who want to prevent this and so Julian is on his way to egypt to help his friend...

In my eyes this is one of the best freeware adventures for years (besides "Zak McKraken - Between Time and Space"). It's funny, it's original and well-made when it comes to graphics and sounds and (most important for an adventure game) there are very good puzzles that consists of more than the usual use-item-A-with-item-B"-stuff. Congratulations to the developers! :goodjob:

Do they try to develop AGAST engine further? It was suspended a couple of years ago, thus not many games were made with its help. Notably Eye of the Kraken and The Breakdown. I simply wonder whether they used the aged program or meddled with the code (free to use I suppose) a bit to build more advanced tool.

I have no idea. But the development of the game started years ago. So maybe they started to work with the AGAST engine before it was suspended and went on, because it worked fine for them?

You might have the chance that Jonas (one of the developers) will see your question and answer it. At least he posted in the old "Patrimonium" thread.

Hi eMTe,

Pater Alf is right: we started using AGAST 2001 and just continued the development up to the release a month ago. The AGAST build used for the game is dated 2003 but still matches our requirements. If you're interested in how the adventure looks like ingame you might want to check out the german trailer.

Thanks for your feedback Pater Alf! I will let you guys know when the english translation is ready.

No. The other way around it would be no problem, but I will better leave translations from English to German to native speakers. If I would do it, it would probably end up with lots of grammatical errors and spelling mistakes.
