Gauntlet Revisited

Post by Pater Alf »

An excellent remake of the old arcade classic. Choose one of the four characters (Warrior, Walkyrie, Wizard or Ranger) and slay your way through 30 dungeons full of evil monsters and precious treasures.

Pretty great at a normal difficulty, and still hard enough to let you have a slight heart attack when you don't follow PA's good advice and accidentally release Death and spend the rest of that life running around the level heart in your throat, trying to find the level exit before Death catches up with you.

Never played the original AFAIR, but this is good fun, and with 30 levels awaiting and a bestiary that is pretty big and well assorted in different types of enemies this game is never boring. Some kind of intro - more than just the script you can choose to read, or not - would have been good though.

And just to let everybody know: My good advice was not to open any treasure chests (at least not before you cleared the level and found the exit). You might accidentally release death otherwise and then you won't survive for a very long time. The treasures in the chests are not worth the risk.

The most psychedelic bug Ive ever come across in computer game. I entered the room and walking around I suddenly discovered that all walls disappeared and Im walking around a huge infinite floor with monster dens, doors and exits appearing every second. Oh, and with Death which couldnt move.

Have you ever thought about a career as an Exterminator? The way you always find these strange bugs is awesome... :D
