Inspired by the book Ender's Game, H.G.R was a step both backward and forward in shooter design. Backward because of its very classic arcade feel, yet forward in design originality. With clinging to walls, blasting has never been this addictive before!

"Hungry to make another strong shoot 'em up, I tinkered with my favorite game Gyruss once again, and the book by Orson Scott Card served as inspiration for the room idea. In the end, we have a very unique blaster that really delivers with the grappling mechanic. I'm very happy with this one." - Marc Marta

Every game that was inspired by the novel "Ender's Game" can't be that bad. I will download and try it as soon as possible (which unfortunately means not before next week).

The one thing I can tell right away is that I really like the graphical design of your games. It's very retro, but in a positive way and I like to play arcade games in that classical style.

Thank you for pointing it out, its just that during development process of the game we refer it as "Heavy Gravity Room".

Ok, I finally found the time to play your game and it is very entertaining. You created a great retro game with perfect graphics and sound effects for this kind of game. Hard enough to be challenging, but not that hard that it gets frustrating.

I just have a minimal criticism. Maybe you should change the design of the bonuses. In the beginning I mistook enemy fire for bonus sometimes and lost several lives that way.

But all in all I have to say: Well done!

I have the same greviance. I also mistook enemy fire for bonuses a couiple of times and died because of that.
I would also have loved to have energy so that I could take more than one shot, but that is a design/gameplay choice and this is just my oppinion. I did enjoy the game very much and will propably play it again sometime in the future. It has great gameplay, somewhat original, and the retro feel to it that so many of us men in our prime enjoy. :)

After spending several hours (yep) with HGR I feel that concept is great and maybe even innovative, at least this is the first old arcade shooting game clone I see with such type of movement...I mean the grappling hook. Unfortunately, game itself didnt play as nice as I thought. Bonuses and bullets are hard to distinguish, so many times I avoided collecting them, because I thought Ill die. When pace increases in later levels and it's better to avoid everything that moves collecting them becomes next to impossible. Another problem: arrows showing direction of next wave. They appear far too late, mostly at the beginning of the wave, so I often didnt have enough time to react. Besides, they change too quickly. They create confusion rather than help, if that was the goal. And in later levels when I tried only to survive I didnt even have time to look at them.

Idea and retro feel are great, but there are too many issues that spoil the gameplay. I think HGR is on a verge of really high quality if it was a bit reworked.
