Go Ollie!

Colourful mouse-controlled platformer featuring Ollie the Oligocheata on a mission to meet his sweet senorita. Cute, but tough.

Too early to claim anything, but I feel huge concentration of quality in the air. Maybe it's Raymanish graphics, maybe wicked pace of the game, maybe something more. I'll see.

"Go Ollie!" is a very nice sidescrolling platform game. There are more than 60 levels in different modes (story mode and arcade mode). The graphics are very clear, detailed and colourful and I must say that I like the cartoonish style. The music and the sound effects are great as well.

Level design is well thought and some levels are not so easy to beat or sometimes you have to come back later, after you obtained a certain weapon/upgrade to gain the perfect score.

The game can be easily controlled with the mouse, but I have to admit that I would prefer if there is a possibility to control the game with the keyboard as well as I'm (like most gamers) more used to it and sometimes I had a little trouble to control it the right way using the mouse.

Another thing that I don't like too much is that the game gets quite hectically from time to time because of the scrolling. Especially in the parts with the fruit-platforms I would have wished for a bit more time to think things over instead of hectically jumping from platform to platform and loosing a lot of lives because of the making the wrong decisions.

Plenty of various actions hidden beneath this childish-looking (at first) game. Long- and highjumps, hanging from platforms to avoid monsters, collecting gems, scoring bonuses to grow your character, all this stuffed into platform game with unusual and odd-looking control scheme, which obviously cant be different, otherwise one wouldnt be able to perform so many tricks. I also like how player is rewarded for his achievements - "hard" levels become pieces of cake after you collect skills and you can even try to achieve 100% if you want. Autosave. Different paths. Ah.

I dont like two things. First, it's impossible to make jump after jump if you dont land first. It's annoying when you kill "big" enemy who produces two smaller ones - you kill the big one, but get killed when falling on smallers. Second. "Catching" platforms is a bit too hard, sometimes when platform is highlighted it takes two clicks to catch it. I guess it's not the problem with my mouse.

It's a great game nonetheless.
