Cry Havoc: Test of Faith

Post by eMTe »

Cry Havoc: Test of Faith is a computer adaptation of the turn-based tactical wargame Cry Havoc made by Standard Games and Publications Ltd. Use 38 different units including Crossbowmen, Squires, Knights, Halberdiers and more. A scenario editor allows you to create, save, and load your own
scenarios. Play against the computer, against a friend via hot seat, or even over the internet.

A coffeebreak TBS! How about that. I really liked this, and my only regret was that the maps are so small. Had they been just twice the size this would have been a much better game in my book.
Ok graphical side that reminds me of Shogun: Total War - at least the warriors. I like the movement system though I had to think about it before I noticed how it worked. (Pretty obvious though, so blame that on me and not the game.)
Currently testing Life version 2.9 (With added second child)
(Beta testing in progress)

Battle Phase games lack official campaigns, that's what I say. Campaigns would turn them from coffeebreaks into full tactical wargames. It's fun to place your units on the board and beat opponent in single fight, but everything's too customizable here. Id love to have tiny bits of plot, linearity and imposed selection of units.

A good game to represent the old Cry Havoc board game. My impression is that this is a very clean game, where the maker has had time to fine-polish it. It doesn't seek to have many features, but the ones it has, has been integrated well. It looks very tidy.
