Developer's description:
"A Remake of the Commodore 64 classic "BC's Quest for tires" (1983, Sierra On-Line). You control Thor the caveman who is traveling through the lands on a stone unicycle, trying to rescue a helpless lady, Cute Chick, from an evil dinosaur. On the journey you will encounter many kinds of dangers, such as logs, lakes, rolling stones, and of course Thor's arch-enemy, Fat Broad.
Two players can play simultaneously using a split screen mode, racing to rescue Cute Chick before the other player does.
The game is freeware and only 5 megabytes in size, so why not go ahead and give it a try"

Gameplay of "Quest for Tires" was never very exciting. Jump and crouch all the time and try to reach the stoneage chick at the end of the game. It stays the same here and I think I can hardly blame the remake for this.
The game plays fine with the modern graphics, but it takes away some of the nostalgic feeling. So I switched to the retro mode after a while just to recognize that the sprite collision is worse in that mode and so I ended up loosing lots of lives, because the game said I hit obstacles when in fact I didn't.
The need to use the speed-up key together with a direction key to control your speed, makes it hard to maneuver from time to time. But I think I had the same problem with the original game.
2-player mode is a nice idea, but I'm not sure I will use it very often.
So in the end "Quest for Tires" is a true remake that has the same flaws and strengths than the original game.
