Beats of Rage

Post by Pater Alf »

Another tribute to the "Streets of Rage" series. This one has great graphics, nice music and three playable characters to offer. And there is a decent 2-player mode. And it is available for many systems like Windows, Linux, Playstation2, Xbox, PSP etc.

Developer's description:

"Beats of Rage was created by Senile Team as a tribute to the Streets of Rage series, which originally appeared on Sega Megadrive/Genesis.
We always hoped that Streets of Rage 4 would someday see the light of day, however SOR 4 never appeared, so we had to take matters into our own hands. And Beats of Rage is the result."

What the heck is Shermie doing in a Streets of Rage game?! (First screenshot) And Blue Mary??! (Second screenshot)

Methinks developer lifted a few sprites from King of Fighters. :)

Yes they did. But at least they admit it in the readme file:

"The character sprites used in Beats of Rage are not created by Senile Team, but are actually 'borrowed' from SNK Playmore's King of Fighters series. Also some parts of the backgrounds are taken from KOF.

As some parts of Beats of Rage were not created by us we wish to emphasise that the creators of Beats of Rage fully acknowledge the copyrights to Streets of Rage and King of Fighters, owned by SEGA and SNK Playmore, respectively."

Fully acknowledge, hence ignore. Seems like a dangerous admission, since there's no longer any plausible denial, like "found on the internet", in case they do decide to make a case of it (unlikely). I like the gusto. :D And it's not that I have a problem with it, but it's a good thing to know, IMO.
