Ok, since Chroelle wanted me to, and this place gets too little traffic anyway, without further ado, one of the games I've spent this last week embroiled with: Assassin's Creed!
AC is the most recent development along this thread, I'd say: Out of this World - Prince of Persia - Tomb Raider - Assassin's Creed.
You control a Middle Eastern assassin during the Crusades, and your task is to assassinate a number of seemingly corrupt officials and foreign devils. You've got your blades, your wits and your incredible agility, plus the ability to go pretty much where you please. You have to see Altaïr (the protagonist) run through the streets of Jerusalem, only to leap onto a fence and from there to grab a roof, hoist himself up and sprint to the next wall, which he runs up, grabs a window sill and starts climbing up a vertical wall. It looks so good! Or when he climbs to the top of a tall tower, crouches on an outcropping and launches himself into the air, dropping safely into a haystack.
Unfortunately, the game lasts about six hours. After that, you kind of realize that you've seen what's there to see. You do something like 3 or 4 different tasks over and over again. Then you sword fight, which is awesomely cool to look at, but is incredibly easy once you learn to counterattack. It's still great to look at though. Other than that, you can go collect hidden flags. Yay.
It's incredibly stylish, has a good share of OH WOW!! moments, but gets real repetitive real quick.
So far out for X360 and PS3, I think, but PC version coming in February. Like the other games I mentioned, you'll want to see this, but it's not exactly a game with lasting appeal, or at least I don't think so.

I cant wait till February! It just looks so cool. I haven't even seen any gameplay movies or anything, I just gotta try it out.
What are the minimum specs? It looks like it sucks CPU-power something fierce.

Well I have a fairly new PC, so I should be able to run it, but I am getting afraid with the current tempo to minimum specs-skyrocketting, that I will have to make some sacrifices, and I dont want to....

Well I am still running XP, so I wouldn't know about Vista. I got a voucher for Vista, but never seem to get around to actually cashing it in...
