TVGigant

Post by dahood »

Hi,
TVGigant will be a remake of the classic MadTV but it's not finish yet only the German version. The main difference in contrast to MadTV is that the audience is divided in target groups with prefered times. That means you have to think twice which show is the better one for monday morning 11 o'clock.

The first time I played wasn't such interesting because there aren't license for the real name of the Movies, Series, News and Adspots.
But there is an editor which you can change the Movie names into the right one. But in their forum you can find many files with the real names of the movie etc.
For me it's a pity that the German version of the Editor is no more available but I don't mind because the english one ist still available.

There are 3 language files for downloading, english, spanish and czech

Edit: Sorry i forgot the link ^^ TVGigant

Looks very interesting. It could very well attract a lot of attention. MadTV was one of the really popular games of back then and alot of people look for it when they become older to try it again.

I tried this game more than one year ago when I became a member of the Game Hunters Squad. Looking at the screenshots I think there was a lot of improvement since then. And there seem to be a lot of new features as well.

Thanks to dahood for pointing me at that remake again. As "Mad TV" is still one of my all time favourites, I will download and try it soon.

Last piece of news from 2007 when dahood made post about the game. Site exists, but project looks like halted for years.

If I remember correctly the game isn't finished, but fully playable (of course not with all the features that were planned). And as there are language files this should be the case for all languages.

Will download the game to make sure that I'm right...

Tried it and the demo is in fact nothing more but a demo. You can buy movies and series, create a news show and get advertisement. So it's possible to play, but there is no save function, no sounds or music, no chance to create own shows and series, no communication with the boss or betty, etc..

But there is hope. The developer wrote on the TvTower (which is the new name of the project) forum, that the project is not dead and they are still working on it.

At the moment players are able to (also able to do when playing a networkgame): set, change, remove programmes in the programmeplanner. To set adblocks whose contracts can be taken from the ad-agency. Buying movies in the movie-agency. (up to now not when playing networkgames) Setting the subscriptionlevels of news-genres and so placing the upcoming news in the newsstudio. Using the elevator and its roomboard. Changing the roomsigns of the roomboard when visiting the roomboard itself (0th floor). Looking at some fancy financial statistics. Buying new station-antennas for extending the audience-reach. Each programme which has been sent had a calculated audience and afterwards the topicality of the programme is decreased, so the next time the audience will be less then before.

But can it only be played in German? It sounds like somthing I want to get my hands on and play, but I am not at all fluent in German, and so I might have to pass on it. Have a lousy connection at the moment, so dont want to spend all evening (yes it is that lousy) just to find out I can't play it...

The post above there is spam. It's copy/pasted from the game's homepage and the same user did post into another thread something about origin of buffalo wings (which I already deleted).

However, that's the latest news from the game and it seems that there are translations available to other languages as well.

Perhaps it's spam, but still relevant to the thread.

I got the same feeling when I went to read the site about my question. But I thought that perhaps it was one of the developers who just copy/pasted the news from their frontpage.
I can't seem to get the English translation working... Can anyone figure it out?

Nothing new till 2007 and the developer doesn't answer any questions on the game's forum. I'm pretty sure this project is dead... :(
