Darkest Island is the story of a man named Daniel who wakes up in a bloody hospital bed on a remote island with no knowledge of how he got there. A girl's voice echoes in his mind, begging for him to come and rescue her, and promising to help him get off the island. Daniel finds that this hospital is actually a research facility, and the inhabitants are no longer human. These zombie-like creatures are not the only enemies that Daniel makes. Soon he has armed soldiers hunting him as well. The story of the facility unfolds as Daniel makes his way into the dark center of the island.
Looked good til I started playing; game was horribly sluggish and I had to quit it after several minutes. It cant be comp speed problem, but you never know, so try it.

Np getting this to work. Some slowdown in some areas, large slowdown in one area. Just completed it. Part 1 is quite good, part 2 is less so, though the ending is hilarious. Textures are not too good, but when you're in the more atmospheric parts, you forgive that easily enough. The cutscenes are the worst. Plus clipping issues abound.
Unfortunately, the shooter part is quite broken. Leaning = win, as the enemies can't spot you when you're leaning. AI is generally atrocious and easily taken advantage of. Way too much ammo makes it very simple overall. I died a grand total of one time, and that was an environment death, not a shooter one.
Didn't get stuck in any objects, and for the most part the action is very smooth. Voice acting is ok, but sound quality is all over the place. It's worth a play for the atmosphere in part 1, and it's also nice enough that there's a decent, if mostly predicatable, story, and that it's all wrapped up in part 2.

I contacted Luke for permission to host the game. I downloaded it and I will try to find time to play it during the next few days...

Oh.. He gave me permission right after writing that last message.
I seem to be stuck in the very first room... I will look this over once more if someone could please tell me if this is a bug or if I am doing something wrong or missing something...
EDIT: It turned out my entire PC was just waiting to crash, so it did, and that was the reason (I think), since there was no problem when I restarted the computer...
However the game crashed on me a little while ago, so I will power it up once more later, but not now.
