This looks amazing. I will get right on playing it. If it is any good and we can get permission to host it, expect to see it on the site soon. :D

The permission to host is no problem, see the COPYRIGHT.txt in package root:

"Bos Wars as a whole is distributed under the GNU general public
license version 2, which is available in the file LICENSE.txt."

I must say I do love this. Although the maps that come with the package seem to be a bit too small => gameplay is a bit too short and hectic for my taste. BEWARE: At least in the source package which I DLed, there were a bug in game: I crashed when trying to load savegame.

And a sidenote: Technically this is amazingly well written game. I have not seen many freeware games, which can be run inside valgrind memory checking tool without causing bad read/writes. This one I was able to run!

I have to say I was a bit disappointed. The game is very much in development, and the tutorial in the windows version malfunctioned time and time again on me.
The maps are a bit too small for me too, and I was having a hard time figuring out what did what and why (again due to the tutorial).
I think this is an ok game, and it will most likely transform into a great game, once it is more developed. The ideas, concept and gameplay is great.

Well, maps get larger when you proceed... ;)
I wonder if there's differences between Windows and Linux versions, since on Linux the game worked just fine :/

Yeah Warzone is a clear gem, while I think this one was a rather polished piece of coal, but not a diamond yet.

"Bos Wars" is a typical RTS game. Build your base, train lots of units and soldiers and search your enemy's base to destroy it. Classic concept and I won't complain about that...

But to be honest, I was bored after a while. Mostly because the game speed is very slow (even when you turn it to the highest speed) and it takes an eternity (at least it feels so long) for your units to reach their goal and for your factories to produce new units. So when there's only a single enemy unit left and you have to search the whole map to find it, it's frustrating and I quit sometimes because it took so long.

On the other hand the game isn't all bad. Different units and buildings are ok and you can use them for different actions and fighting strategies once you figured out what they can do. Graphics, sounds and animations are good too. So even if this is not my favourite freeware RTS "Bos Wars" is no waste of time...

A new version of "Bos Wars" is available (version 2.5):

"This version features recyclable buildings and beautiful explosions using particle graphics. You will also find some graphical improvements, bug fixes and new maps.

Jim also insists that the start position in campaign level 5 got fixed as he explained on IRC: " I know people are looking forward to that change". " (from the official homepage)

You can download the new version for Windows and Linux from our game info page:
