Classic C64 isometric game turned into 3d shooter.
Project Firestart began on February 13, 2066, aboard the research ship Prometheus. Financed by the System Science Foundation (SSF), an agency of the United System States (USS), the project's goal was to produce strong, durable laborers capable of helping Belters mine titanium and iridium on selected moons and asteroids.
Although the first generation genetic reshaping is extremely hazardous, it was allowed because the geneticists involved were required to follow strict safeguards guaranteeing tight control over the experiment's end product.
But the Prometheus no longer responds. The safeguards must have been breached. If they have, Firestart is out of control. The SSF has assigned you to clean up the mess.
PF was an early attempt at horror movie on the computer. It was billed as "More than a game... A Horror Movie in Outer Space."

The game looks good, but I am afraid to say it had so many errors that I had to cancel playing it in the end. I hope this was only on my system as it seems like a great game, the story is good, and the graphics are surely better than alot of other freeware FPS-games out there.
I was annoyed that this didn't work for me, because it looks so promising.

Hmm, the game crashed several times for me as well, but I think I saw enough to tell you what I think:
At first I liked "Project Firestorm", because there are not too many FPS with a story and such a creepy atmosphere (reminded me of "Alien" and "System Shock"). But after a while I wasn't that amazed any more. Mainly because of one reason: The game feels empty. There are so many rooms and so few that contain stuff and things you could interact with...
Of course there are still nice graphics and you can see that the developer put lot of effort into the game, but I don't think that's enough.
Thumps up for the graphics and the atmosphere. This could really have been a great game if the gameplay would have been a bit better and if it would have been more stable.

Haha, oh man, I didn't even realise this one was up for consideration on the site. I'm glad it didn't make it, I don't even include this one on my portfolio.
So, yeah, sorry about the quality of the game, though it was a mostly solo project done in less then three months. I hope Derelict makes up for it.
There -may- be a new version of this game in the works, but no promises.

Nice to read opinion from somebody who discovers the naked facts years after and makes laugh of criticism. Really really needed this kind of response. We had a bit of trouble with our harsh opinions, with Asterix and Obelix remake for example if I remember correctly. Good to see somebody not taking things too seriously.
We're all doing this for fun. Making games, playing games, reviewing games. What's the difference anyway?

Not to mention The Family Treasure where the developer asked us to remove the gamesuggestion from the forums...

I used to be quite sensitive about opinions of my games (especially Firestart at the time of release, I sunk three months of hard work into that!) but it was silly really. 95% of the complaints of my games are rational ones that I usually agree with, and I learn from to improve my future titles. The other 5% are just ridiculous ones like "most boring/dumbest game ever" which you can only shrug off.
The quality of my recent titles makes three year old Firestart look terrible by comparison, and I'm hoping the games I release three years from now make my current titles look similarly terrible. As long as I keep making games, I won't stop learning and striving to become better. But I know I have a long way to go yet.

Family Treasure case is solely my fault. I said harsh words and didnt care a bit to explain my opinion, so reply was justified and probably aimed at style of "criticism", not the criticism itself (because there wasnt any). It was really bad from my side.
