Viewed from above, the task in each level of X-It is to create a path to walk through to the exit, by moving blocks around a walled arena.
The movement physics are fairly true to real life - blocks can only be pushed if there is a block's worth of space behind them, and nothing immediately ahead of them.
The levels are full of gaps, through which blocks can be pushed - this has the double effect of freeing up extra room in the level, and allowing you to walk over those spaces.
Other hazards include ice which prevents blocks from stopping until they go past it.
Game is the remake of Psygnosis' game from 1995.

Pushing blocks is an exercise I remember from the earliest days of computer gaming. Wrapping your logic around boxes, holes and walls has always been a nice brain tickler. X-It Again! carries with it a couple more or less familiar variations, such as slick ice, U-shaped boxes that can be spun to fit holes, sticky squares, dynamite, teleporters, secret doors and fighting the clock.
Decent retro music, didn't make me sick of it within an hour, even if it is repetitive. I had some issues with lighting the dynamite, sometimes I could, sometimes I couldn't.
Stages can be skipped with "TAB", useful to know.
Unfortunately, I ran into a problem where, stepping on an electrocution square caused my computer to freeze up completely. Don't step on them (or do and see if the same happens to you).

Nice blockpusher, but nothing spectacular. Decent graphics, decent music, good level design, but one can find better games around. Undo option would be nice, replaying whole level because of one bad move near finish is always irritating in similar games. Game also lacks tutorial and any introduction story. Why the kid is on spaceship? Lack of intro always ruins atmosphere.
Freezing the comp seems to be a serious drawback of X-It. Happened to me after hitting Esc key while playing.

I like the game (pushing blocks around is always fun) and I don't care that there is no story or a tutorial (game explains itself pretty good).
But I care about the "Freezing-the-Comp" bug. It happened to me five times until I reached the first bonus stage. So in my eyes game is fully unplayable with this serious bug around.
Hope there will be a patch one day...
