Traditional pont'n'click adventure made with AGS. You play Captain Nelly Cootalot on her voyage to save one of her favourite species of bird - the Spoonbeak, missing on the island Barony of Meef.
Designer: Alasdair Beckett (made the game as a present for his girlfriend, who's alias is Nelly Cootalot)
Co-development (couldnt find better word ): Screen 7
Found a critical bug. Dialogue box is not scrollable so it can happen that number of possible dialogue options will be greater than box can hold. Example: talking to the bird seen above. You cant exit dialogue box since "goodbye" option doesnt appear on screen (appears virtually, underneath). What can you do? Press ALT + F4...
Tell me if you have this problem too, I'll also check AGS forums and see if this is going to be fixed in next version...
Ok, for those who love meddling with options. In setup dont set graphics filter to 2x nearest neighbour. Dialogue box becomes bigger then. Dont know if it has something to do with my screen resolution, but just in case dont change any options.
Whoa, Nelly! As ickingly, disgustingly cute this is, nothing changes the fact that for once we have an adventure game where the humour is witty and funny and the characters are likeable, not annoying. I admit, the game had me at Captain Rehab.
Longer than I had expected, with some pretty nice puzzles and oodles of charm and character. I also happened to like the control scheme a lot.
What a nice game! Graphics are beautiful drawn, the music by Mark Lovegrove fits the atmosphere and most important all the puzzles are hard but well made and there are always hints, so you can solve them if you use your brain.
Only puzzle I wasn't able to crack myself was the pirates' code. Couldn't figure out what the note means. Can anybody tell me?
But after all "Nelly Cootalot" is unbelievable cute and funny. I think I have a new favourite freeware character!
P.S.: I'd like to see a crossover between Guybrush Threepwood and Nelly Cootalot...
So many small remarks in this game. Did you notice the fish in the barnacle? Also did you notice that SPOILER the Cat Burglar was called TRILBY! /SPOILER
So many small details.
Play it. It will not be a waste of your time!

Currently testing Life version 2.9 (With added second child)
(Beta testing in progress)
I'm glad to see Nelly Cootalot on your site. I hope Curly's World does well, it could be a good resource for cross-platform free games.
While self-indulgently reading the thread you started about Nelly I noticed that you seem to have played the game at the wrong resolution (320x240), resulting in the bug you mentioned and possibly the blurriness of the screenshots. This might have been caused by playing the game from a zip file.
Anyway, I wanted to mention that the latest version (1.5) will gives an error message when played at the wrong resolution, so players know they reed to run it at 640x480. The latest version should also be compatible with the AGS linux emulator, while earlier versions were not.
Finally, could I suggest an alternative, external link option on your game download pages. I understand that you need to protect your bandwidth and encourage membership, but I think it would be worth making people aware of other places that games can be downloaded.
I hope this project goes continues to grow,
Ali.
Thank's for the information!
I will deliver your tips to our community at CWF, and also suggest updating the version we host (unless already updated). What comes to linking to other download places, we do that already. All games that have been suggested to be hosted on CWF should have threads open in our forums. There's often links to other download locations. We do also link to developers website (if such exists), because we wish to give the credit to those who deserves the credit
Thank's for the nice wishes, and I wish you'll be creating lot's of more games for everyone to enjoy
May your pointers stay accurate, dynamic memory be released and structs stay correctly aligned
(A.K.A Take Care and be well )
