6 Days A Sacrifice

Post by Pater Alf »

Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw has done it again. He made another sequel to his "John DeFoe"-Series. So be aware that you need knowledge of "5 days a stranger", "7 days a skeptic" and "Trilby's notes" to play and enjoy this game.

I haven't played the game yet (it was released only a few weeks ago), but looking at the other games of the series I'm pretty sure I won't be disappointed.

Story: "TODAY: JULY 22nd, 2189
Theo DaCabe, a surveying officer for Buckinghamshire County Council, is assigned to run a routine health and safety assessment on the headquarters of a fad religion called Optimology. Little does he realise that he is about to be caught up in the machinations of destiny, and a plot that has simmered for two centuries..."

Game status: Mr. Croshaw gave us permission to host his other games, so I don't think there will be a problem with this one...

Dang! I wanted to be first! :D

More info: this is the final game of DeFoe series and is intended to tie up all loose ends from previous stories.

And funny enough I just saw it yesterday and went in here to make a thread when I noticed I was too late. I wonder if any of us are keeping an eye out for Bernie? :D

Afair Yahtzee told something similar when "Trilby's notes" was released. So I won't be surprised if there will be another sequel sometime in the future...;)

I cannot help but wonder if this game is supposed to be taking place AFTER 5 days and BEFORE 7 days or what...

A sort of not sequal or prequal, but inbetweenqual.

You're right (and created a great new word). "6 Days a Sacrifice" takes place 196 years after the events in "5 Days a Stranger" and 196 Years before "7 Days a Skeptic".

This is the fourth and last game in the series by Yahtzee, and the plot has developed to much larger proportions than in the first game.

The special edition of the game which previously were given to people donating 5 dollars is now free. It includes music in the game and some extra stuff like the authors commentary track through the game, and a longer ending.

6 Days A Sacrifice website wrote:196 YEARS AGO:

- The DeFoe Manor Incident takes place. Trilby, the master thief, successfully destroys the body of vengeful wraith John DeFoe and escapes his clutches. (5 Days A Stranger)

- After being caught in a reality shift at the Clanbronwyn Hotel, Trilby learns the nature of the Ethereal Realm and the Scientific Realm, of the demonic deity Chzo, and the plan to create a bridge between the realms by destroying the three aspects of John DeFoe. He has the Soul blasted into space to prevent that from happening, but this only serves as a delaying tactic. Meanwhile, Chzo's acolyte, Cabadath, aka the Tall Man, crosses over to the Scientific Realm to orchestrate the building of the Bridge. (Trilby's Notes)

196 YEARS FROM NOW:

- The Soul is recovered by the scoutship Mephistopheles, floating unprotected in space. After John DeFoe's influence kills off the entire crew save one, Dr. Jonathan Somerset, the Soul is finally destroyed in the ship's engines. It is then discovered that Somerset is an impostor, and he is arrested. (7 Days A Skeptic)

TODAY: JULY 22nd, 2189

- Theo DaCabe, a surveying officer for Buckinghamshire County Council, is assigned to run a routine health and safety assessment on the headquarters of a fad religion called Optimology. Little does he realise that he is about to be caught up in the machinations of destiny, and a plot that has simmered for two centuries.
PS: Sorry for reposting something that's already mentioned. I didn't see that there already was a thread about this game before i wrote this post, but i didn't want to throw it away. The more the merrier :)

I just recognized that I always wrote Yathzee instead of Yahtzee. Shame on me...
