Into The Eagle's Nest

Post by eMTe »

For those who never heard of the original game, it was released in 1987 by a company called Pandora and appeared on the Amstrad CPC, Sinclair Spectrum, Commodore 64, Atari XE, Commodore Amiga, Atari ST and IBM PC. It was essentially a one player Gauntlet style game set in WWII with an allied soldier attempting to rescue three of his buddies and destroy the castle with explosives. It was a fun little game that proved fairly popular especially on the 8 bit home computers.

The game has been remade a couple of years ago by Trevor 'Smila' Storey and was a fun game though quite different in some aspects to the original. This remake of the original stays a bit truer to the original game while offering higher resolution hand pixelled graphics, a two player mode, selectable characters, more than one castle, and various other extras.

If I remember right, that was the way it always looked...

I really loved that game on my C64 and I'm really looking forward to this remake.

You could always argue that Alien Breed looks like Gauntlet. :)

I liked it too on the c64, and am looking forward to playing it again in any case.

Mmm.. I am interested in technical details.. I now know that point'n click games are often made with some game making tool.. But how do people do games like this? Or strategy games? Are these 'coded by hands'?

Hi, I'm the guy who's been making this remake. A friend of mine came across this site and notified me of this thread. It's sorta on hold right now but I hope to get back on it as soon as I can. I haven't been well for some years but am hopefully soon being moved to a new home where I can get better and get things all sorted again.

Updates will be on this address here and yeah that will be replaced by an actually decent website at some point during the year.

Thanks for the topic :)
