Scorched 3D

Post by Chroelle »

Well most of us remember Scorched Earth (The mother of all games).

This is the same gameplay only in 3d, which actually isn't just a classic "lets make this game time-fitting, and get a big hit by upgrading a classic into a crap-bucket". This game actually gets something fun and worthwile out of the idea. The gameplay is fun, and the graphics are neat. IT is always nice to go French and drop a nuke on an island-group. :)

Getting used to camera views takes some time, but except this it is good old Scorch. Recommended.

"Scorched 3D" is updated to version 41. There are lots of new features:

- New simpler game launcher
- Re-designed dialogs for starting games
- Dragging the landscape will drag the main view
- New chat channel interface
- New improved tank AIs
- Enhanced water effects
- Real-time shadows
- In game Music
- Faster more responsive online communications and less data sent from clients
- Everything in the Scorched world is now interactive and can be destroyed
- Client and server processes have been split to allow headless servers to be built
- More moding options
- And many more additions and fixes.

You can find the new version for Windows and Linux (there´s no new version for Mac yet) at our game info page:

Because of technical reasons I cannot delete the old (not working) download links at the moment, so please ignore them and use the download links that says "Newest Version". I will delete the old links as soon as possible...

This might possible be (one of) the best coffee break game(s) we have on this site. The zooming function is quite rigid, and that is a pity because the game is very dependent on it.
Otherwise a very great game, with lots of hours of fun in it.
Gotta love this one!

Just to offer a counter point, I never saw the appeal of Scorched, myself. Repetitive and pointless in my book. But thousands have another opinion. ;)

Repetitivity and pointlessness are what some tiggers like most. :) Especially when the pointlessness is violent. :)

...unless you're inside the tank.

Latest version, 41.3, came out recently. We might want to upload it.
