Downloadspage updated with new games.

Post by Chroelle »

I did a rather big update of the downloadspage today, so please look at it, and see if you run into any issues. This is of course only the temp downloadspage, but still.

A few of the first games on the site needs new pages, and I will do them tonight if I can.

The first games that were accepted was accepted pretty fast and without the GH's in on it.
These will be tested at some point by the GH's so that we can have a rating to go with it.

If I have missed any accepted games, please let me know.

I asked MrG if he could 'polish' the DL page a bit... (To be more specific, I asked if it was easy for him to make it to look a bit better, I said that if it's not, he should leave it as it is, since it's not high priority. But if it was easy for him, I told it would be good to improve it a bit. Frankly to say, currently the DL page is not excellent... In fact, I feel it's somehow disturbing :p Errm.. I did not mean to hurt anybody's feelings, this was meant to be constructive criticism :D )

Ok. I think I am done now....
Well I did put little effort into the downloadspage, and I never claimed to be professional. :)
It was supposed to be a quick made page, that we could work around, with ideas for layout and such. There are defenently some problems with it, and I am not sure how much time I will spend trying to polish it up... But if anyone else want's to, they are very welcome.
So feel free to critisize (constructively) or improve.

Constructive criticism... Well, I'm not a designer, but I do have some taste (playing role of anonymous newbie again). My ideas for layout... I dont expect second Underdogs or GameHippo, but I feel designers team should be able to do sth like that in future:

http://www.freeware-download.com/downlo ... /5337.html

Neat and clean, no unnecessary ornaments, warm pallette, legible fonts.

I hate such posts of me, because I cant help much and and I dont even know how hard it is to make similar layout (which looks simple to me, but I can bet it's not so simple when one has to work it out). So just a small comment with example...

Oh but we already have a great and very simple layout planned. So no worries there eMTe. :)
We have discussed throughout the process about what would make it look neat and easy to navigate.

No worries here... I wonder where my head was when I was writing this...

Suggestion: I suppose traditional browse options (alphabetical and genre) will be implemented. What about theme search option, like on Underdogs...? Cyberpunk, fantasy, humorous...you know what I mean.

mm... I have been writing the search script for the future version. ATM. I have done (planned) following search options:

Game name
Genre
Publisher
Year.

And I think this is the way to go. There is not many people who dont search genre when they search for freeware games.
