Emulator probs

Hi guys

Im new to this forum and pretty new to pcs in general, so i would be gratefull if anyone can help me with what is prob a simple solution to u but hard for me.

I downloaded super frog from a site

and when i got to extract it using win ace it opens then a blank screen pops up for a few secs then nothing happens.

Im not the sharpest tool in the box but where am i going wrong lol

Why not download the amiga emulator WinUAE. Great program. Most games will work with this emulator

Welcome on board Jas!

Could you tell us what was the name of the file? (especially the extension)

If the game ended with .zip , .rar , .ace , .tar , .tgz, .tar.gz , .bz , .z7 or... Then you do really need to extract it first. win ace is indeed a tool to extract archives, but you do need an emulator program to play it, in case it is made for emulator (if it is so called rom). Monte is right, for amiga roms winUAE is a decent emulator

Although selecting correct kickstarts & configurations may be a pain..

Well, feel free to ask if you encounter problems, I am quite sure heres certain members who can really help you

(I myself am no master with emulators either)

Just a tip how to increase the propability of getting a good answer:
Be as specific as you can. Tell exactly what did you try, and how did it work.
Tell exact name of files, and programs you used.
Also if you ever have problems with running old PC games, it is a must to tell at least
1. what operating system you used
2. How old/new computer you're running, or even better, the speed of computer, amount of memory, graphics card type etc...

Hey thx for your help fade, i will try to explain it as best as i can.
Its a rar file ext and with the WinUAE i have when i go to open it its says:
One of the following system roms is required:
Kickstart v.13 (a500, a1000, a2000) rev 34.5k

Kickstart v.13 (a3000) rev 34.5 (256k)

Says: check the system rom in the paths panel and click rescan roms.

I did this and the above ^ is missing (kickstart)

A brief description of my pc

AMD athlon xp 1900+
1.47 ghz
1gig of ram
radeon 9200se graphics card

I hope i didnt forget anything, i have run out of ideas how to get this game to run lol

kickstart roms are copyright material - you could buy it legally online somewhere.

MrG is right. But of course, if you're not able to find the kickstart roms, you can always try some other emulator

And this is just a suggestion based on my own experiences, I suggest you to download winrar archiever, and to use it instead of win ace. From my experience winrar is faster & easier to use

(although it has been ages since I tested win ace, it may have changed after that

)

... Back to work again.. I hope the kernel sources are finally compiled... :/
