The two gifts of the DDR, Sandman and the study week credit system. Incidentally both were retired in Finland in the last decade.

Re: Guess the cartoon
Yeah, both Sandman and that animation style in eMTe's link were both staples of Finnish broadcasting company's children's show in the 80s but for obvious reasons were quite heavily localized. We got both the Soviet stuff and the Western stuff.Scythe wrote:...which means nobody knows wth that is...eMTe wrote:Heh, unfortunately it won't be as easy as I thought.

Re: Guess the cartoon
It's Miś Uszatek a.k.a. Nalle Luppakorva.
We've been flooded by dvds with old Polish cartoons recently, so I decided I'd give one a go - somebody might accidentally recognize one of them.

Darn... I should've known. This series has been only shown in Poland, Finland and Slovakia according to Wikipedia. Like the Soviet Sandman, it was used to tell kids to go to sleep.eMTe wrote:It's Miś Uszatek a.k.a. Nalle Luppakorva.

Also, according to the same Wikipedia, it was sold to at least 22 countries.

But yes, it was broadcasted as part of the daily programme known as Dobranocka here and Vecernicek in Czechoslovakia. Usually around 19:00. After 1989 programme featured also Disney (Gummi Bears, Duck Tales) or Hanna Barbera (Smurfs) cartoons, but only at Sundays when schedule allowed for longer movies. I'm not sure whether this format still exists, I don't own TV. But I guess it does, it's the tradition hard to erase.
Btw, all our smileys are back.

Re: Guess the cartoon
Isn't it something with Sindbad in the title? I vaguely remember this bird. The problem is that the human to the left looks more like cosmonaut rather than Arabian prince.Pater Alf wrote:Let's try something else:

Re: Guess the cartoon
I guess we're talking this one. Funny, I remember the bird, but not the cartoon being anime, having Japanese characters and all. For mysterious reasons, I thought it was German (or some European co-production at least).

Re: Guess the cartoon
If I remember correctly, it was produced for German TV, but it was made in Japan. There are some series from that time that was produced that way (like Nils Holgersson, Pinocchio or Heidi).eMTe wrote:I guess we're talking this one. About the new one: The style looks pretty much like the old "Ghostbusters"-series.

I haven't been around for quite some time. Anyway, since I'm here....
eMTe, that cartoon picture that you posted is from Denver the last dinosaur. It used to be one of my favourite cartoons.
It come with a catchy song, "Denver the last dinosaur, he's my friend and a whole lot more..."

Aw, I wish I'd come to this thread earlier; I also used to love that show!
(And now, I have the Denver, the Last Dinosaur themesong running through my head)
Wait, that post was made in 2012? Have I really never looked in this thread at all before?
Oops!

Ok, now to just to make sure that I don't duplicate anything, I've browse through all 22 pages

Anyone want to try to guess this cartoon?

Re: Guess the cartoon
It's been almost 2 years & nobody guess it.
Here's the answer can be either one:
"The Puppy's Great Adventure" or
"The Puppy's Further Adventures" (sequel to the first one)
It's an ABC Weekends Specials cartoon long series. It was one of my favourite cartoons though I didn't manage to watch all the episodes. Those who watched it would remember the intro where during a storm, the puppy got separated from the boy Tommy & his family and goes in search for them.
Now someone can post a new cartoon picture.

Re: Guess the cartoon
I don't believe fame of the cartoon goes worldwide, but the creator sadly passed recently, so to honour him...
Pater would be probably closest to guess this one.
If nobody knows I'll post the answer and than you can go and watch it on YouTube. The series was truly psychedelic for its time.
