Hi, I write to show you a game I have realized.
Zig Zag is a puzzle action with game mechanics both from classic arcade game Dig Dug and Boulderdash. The player moves in an underground maze, digging galleries and collecting diamonds. In each level the player must reach the exit door that is opened once all the diamonds in the level are collected. Different creatures, each with its own walking pattern, moves in the underground maze and the contact with an enemy causes the loss of one of the five lives. The boulders present in some levels can be used to kill enemies, but the player must take care to not be crushed himself. When a boulder falls from higher than one step, it crumbles and vanishes. The game features 15 levels of increasing difficulty.
Zig Zag has been realized with the software Game Editor (http://www.game-editor.com) and can be downloaded for free at http://bluestarinteract.altervista.org/index.html.
Both the Windows version and MacOS version (untested) are present as well as the Game Editor source code. Links to video walkthroughs for all 15 levels are also present.

Re: Zig Zag - freeware puzzle action
Looks like a pretty nice "Boulder Dash"-clone. I will try it and tell you what I think.

Re: Zig Zag
Ok, I played the first few levels and I think you did several things right. You created a nice retro game that comes very close to old games when it comes to graphics, music, level design and gameplay. First two levels are very easy, then things get pretty hard. There is no possibility to save the game or to skip levels and so you will have to replay the first levels very often (I have no problems with that as it was the same in the games of my childhood and youth).
So far I like everything. But now I come to my main problem with the game and the one fact I very much dislike: the character moves much too slowly! That's fine when you play a level for the first time, but it gets annoying when you have to replay levels over and over again and perfectly know how to solve them.
Maybe it would be possible to speed up the character in the next version of the game? It would add a lot to the enjoyment of playing this game and I don't think it would destroy any gameplay elements.
