Happy Jets of Water

Post by eMTe »

New game by Zsolt Bartok (Ragmeg Alleycat). HJoW is an isometric arena shooter where you fight with water guns against bots or friend. Four game modes, many maps and unlockables, pixel art graphics. No violence!

Developer: Zsolt Bartok

Year: 2012

Looks like the perfect summer game to play when you wish the sun was shining but it is actually pouring down outside...

I thought you would rather say that it's perfect for the sunny and hot weather. :D

No because then I would be outside doing it for real. :)

Finally got around to playing it. It tore me a bit, because I like the concept, and I love that it is non-violent. I really like the many features and unlockables, characters, weapons and maps. There is even a battle builder, so you can build your own battles. The game is fun, but at times too slow (which of course makes it more appealing to kids) the fact that you slow down a lot means that the action gets sucked rght out of the battle, and that REALLY bugged me. But then the many features really rubbed me the right way. I was entertained enough to be annoyed by it - and that is actually a positive thing for a game.
But overall I really liked it. I hope the other guys agree so we can offer you this from here. :)

Fun idea, but the execution isn't done too well. Constant slowdown, because of loss of stamina is annoying and takes away much of the faced-paced gameplay. Unlockable characters, game modes and weapons are fine and the battle builder is a great too, but all these things can't compensate for the permanent frustration, because of the main flaw in gameplay.

I'm sorry that I can't say anything better about this game as I really wanted to like it, because of the concept and the grat soundtrack.
