Which OS do you use

Post by Chroelle »

Well, for matters of interest and for general knowing:

What OS and surf tool do you use?

I myself use Windows XP SP2 and use IE to surf. What does everyone else use?
I use them because they are what I have always used, and because I don't want to start from scratch learning how to use my computer.

BTW: If you have any issues with using this OS or surfprogram on this forum please also post it here, so we might be able to do something about it when we write the code for the Downloadspage.

I use Windows 2000NT/XP and Mozilla Firefox to surf.
Very rarely Netscape and IE.

I am an XP pro SP2 girl and a Mac OSX fluffy designer girl also...But then again I do have 98 on my computer too...oh it is oh too much to think about.

As for browsers I use firefox IE and netscape. Being a fluffy designer means I have to know how the sites I design look and work on a wide range of browsers.

But I admitt I also have Windows 2000 installed at home, and I do occasionally use it too. It has it's good sides.

Which OS I use depends on which computer I use. My gaming/CAD/design work Sempron system uses XP SP@ with Firefox for browsing.

I also got a Power Mac G3 with OS 9.1 which I'm using more for online tasks these days as of late (May switch to mac for internet surfing soon. Just need to put a USB card in the G3 so I can use one keyboard for all my machines on the KVM switch.)

My old Toshiba laptop has Windows 95 on it (Only got a Pentium 75 and 16 MB of RAM. Will have 40 MB of RAM soon). Good laptop though, battery lasts about 3.5 hours. :D

Win XP SP 2, Mozilla FireFox...

I'm an Amiga-Fanatic, so I use AmigaOS3.9 (both real Amiga and WinUAE) and WinXP Professional (on my PeeCee). For Internet I use Opera 9 and AWeb (on Amiga). For mailing I use ONLY AmigaYAM. This is IMHO the best mail client and it's totally free!!!

Chillum, XP Home is more aimed towards the general user for their home use. It basically uses wizards and settings that configure windows for the average user.
XP Pro is more for advanced users or corporate settings. It allows you to attach to domains, modify services, security and policies. It is highly more flexible than Home Edition.

I personally use WinXP Pro SP2, but that's just because I hate having XP Home tell me what I like. Do I really need it? Probably not. But it makes me feel like a big geek. :D :D :D

I use IE to surf. I dislike the newer versions of Netscape, and I don't like Firefox either, although the name is cool.

Sold my old Toshiba. Got an IBM Thinkpad with a Pentium 233 and (come tomorrow's mail) 224 MB of RAM. It has Windows 2000 on it. Primary desktop is unchanged. Win@K runs like a dream on this machine. Now I need to buy a better hard drive, as it only has a 4 GB, then maybe I can put XP on it with all that RAM.
