Funny that this is the eagle who teaches the dog. ^^

As for quantum mechanics I like it a lot. I think it shares much with philosophy - it is romantic, purely theoretical and most likely totally false, but it's the mystery surrounding it that makes our puny lives a little bit more interesting. Just like a good Poirot movie. ;)

Hi, I'm lurking.

When you work through Christmas and have a brand spanking new MMORPG, your social life suffers.

Well, my social life blossoms, because my friend returned from England for short holidays and we already met two times, with lots of various friends also, and tomorrow we meet for the third time. All within a week.

Funny how internet affects relations. If you contact somebody on a regular basis via mail or messenger or "have her/him on Facebook" you dont particularly miss him, even if this person lives thousands of kilometres away. If you dont have regular contact you start missing the person and it makes the meeting more pleasurable. 8)

@Scythe, that's why I avoid MMORPGs like the plague! I know how easily I would get addicted to them and then I would never get anything done, and I have enough trouble getting anything done as it is! :D

@eMTe, I find that once I have someone on my friends list on Facebook, I tend not to talk to them much any more. Not by conscious choice or anything; It's just that the idea gets planted in my mind that "they're always there if I want to talk to them and now, I can talk to them any time," and so I figure that I'll just talk to them later. (Only "later" never comes) :P My friends list has hundreds of people I never talk to and I frequently wonder why I don't just prune most of them. I think if I got rid of my Facebook profile, I'd probably spend more time with people in person. (Which is what I generally prefer anyway!) That being said, there are plenty of people on my FB list that I never would have been able to talk to without Facebook, so I don't think I'll be getting rid of it any time soon. :)

Well, I dont use Facebook in an expected way, I use it as a simple messenger or mail, anyway there's topic about Facebook and this is the whole different story. I like what you said in your last sentence, because it applies to the whole communication revolution or evolution in recent decades. Thanks to internet you are able to FIND somebody, but it doesnt make you KNOW this person. So, in terms of friendships or relationships nothing changed and internet doesnt affect them as it is often said by various detractors. Life's still here, not in there.

Changing subject, how come you have Christmas avatar, but you dont take part in contest? :D

Huh? Contest?

*Tormuse looks*

Oh, sorry, I haven't been on here much and I didn't realize. :( It looks like I'm too late to get in on it, but I guess I can still toss a vote in. (I would have liked to vote for Chroelle's Avatar Avatar, but I guess I'm too late for that too!) :P

I used be exactly like that. Then I tried some, and they weren't really addictive to me at all. Then my favorite developer (Bioware) made a MMORPG of one of my favorite franchises (Star Wars), and now I'm lost forever.

But not too late to warm an old admins heart. :)

I actually, for a short second there, thought that my activity in here during x-mas was able to be bigger, and even perhaps big enough to hit the big mark (posts) before New Years, but it seems I was right in not believing in it from the start. :)
I will find some time to be in here more from mid-january where my leave starts. I have 8 weeks home with Molly, and I of course have lots of other stuff that I need to do (like start the company), but I am pretty sure I will find my way in here on a daily basis. :)

Come to think, Torm, if you knew about the contest (always use "view new posts" option, peeps :D) you would have possibility of voting for Old Admin, therefore he would advance to final round (everybody with at least single vote advanced) and maybe now he would be able to win. Sets the whole situation far from the butterfly effect dilemma, in fact it is now the very deep moral issue.

Changing subject, Happy New Year midnight for both those who celebrate it and those who dont and Happy New Year. Let it be better than the passing old year, not the best, because there'll be nothing to wish next year. ;)

Hope every one had a happy new year. We had a somewhat weird one. We invited my wifes sister and her new(ish) boyfriend and her big son (12 yo). The boys made dinner in the kitchen having a really good time talking and tasting stuff (wine and VERY FRESH ingredients).
We had a lovely dinner, but at some point he slips a remark to her about remembering to drink some water with her wine so she wont get tipsy too soon, and she in turn does something that annoys him, so they end up giving eachother the silent treatment for 3 (yes 3) hours straight past midnight and up until the time when we more or less guided them to the kithen to talk it out while we tugged in the kids. We had a blast when we were down on the streets shooting fireworks but things were awkward as soon as we came back up to the apartment.
He apologized to us before we went to bed about their behaviour (he is good in that way - most people would just slip off to bed and pretend nothing happened), and hoped it hadn't ruined our New years eve. It hadn't, because Anna had a blast, and I loved the cooking bit, and my wife and I did a lot of praising ourselves happy that we were past that stage in a new relationsship where the smallest things suddenly blow up and become huge fights.

So enough of the resume. Resolutions anyone?
Mine are pretty clear:
- Get the company started.
- Get in shape again so I can run my usual runs this year.
- Listen to my ambitions and let it guide me to where I know I can be.

Found this post from a year ago. Seems I missed out on some stuff. :)
I skipped the whole learning CSS and PHP totally. I actually worked a while on learning CSS, but I couldn't get the lessons to stick, so I had to repeat them over and over again.

Oh and the temperature difference from last years new years eve to this years is around 20 degrees celsius.
Chroelle wrote:We just got powdered snow here... DV where are you at?

Oh and has anyone made any exciting new years resolutions?
Mine are:
- Running more, and perhaps even run the half-marathon this year.
- Learning CSS. Already found a tutorial that I want to follow, and made myself some form od plan so I can mess it up...
- Learning PHP. Might get moved to next years resolutions, so I can focus on CSS this year.
- Finding time to make CWF even better.
- Finding time to make Connect-webdesign.dk better - but I think that might get worked in with learning CSS, so it wont steal time from CWF.

It is another form of "Believe in myself", in a less tacky and more self-composed way. I know I am good at what I want to do more, but I need to be better at getting there.
I always was a firm believer of "If you are good at something - shout it from the rooftops".

My New Years was quiet. Maria and I stayed up till Midnight, kissed at midnight exactly. Outside of that, we watched a movie on my laptop. Peaceful.

Don't have any set resolutions. Her resolution is to be done with Pace, and be the best mother possible to the baby when it is born. The baby is due middle of February. We're pretty excited for it! I wonder if it will be born on the 14th - Valentines Day, as that is also my sister's birthday.

Don't know the gender. We decided to leave it as a surprise.

We were able to come up with a girl's name, that was easy enough. If it's a girl, we plan to name her 'Skoda".

Skoda is a European bus builder (They also build trucks and cars, though, and to some extent, rail equipment). Maria's first bus that she drove in Colombia, before coming to the US, was a Skoda. Besides, it is a nice sounding name for a girl.

We're kind of thinking "Leyland" for a boy, but that's up in the air. We've also come up with "Baldwin", a US locomotive builder, one of the largest steam builders, and a minor builder of diesels.

Skoda is primarily and for over a century car builder, I didnt know they make buses now (in fact it is Volkswagen which does).
