Treasure Adventure Game
It's not out yet, but it is going to be released this month, so posting it in development forum doesnt make much sense. Of course there's hype surrounding the game and it may not fulfill expectations, but it looks pretty strong from what we can see. At least it is long and diverse, in times when freeware games usually turn out to be short and minimalistic.
There's not much to say about plot, except that the protagonist is hook-armed and has a parrot, so maybe he's a pirate? Gameplay-wise it looks like a classic platformer, but with a huge diversity of worlds, bosses and events.

Re: Treasure Adventure Game
It looks good and classic to some extent. Howver I love that there is still lots of diversity in the worlds/dimensions and adversaries. Looking forward to trying it out.

Re: Treasure Adventure Game
I think we can already try it out, there's beta version to download and since the publishing date is near it's easy to assume that this is in fact full game, but without all possible bugs found.

For some odd reason, GOG has the game now as well. Strange.

I'm playing this for a while now and it is a wonderful game. Perfect retro style, beautiful music, nice level/world design, great boss fights.
So far I'm really having fun!

Re: Treasure Adventure Game
I finally completed the game. Had 98% (I think one heart was missing) and got the bad end. No idea why or what I should've done to get the good one. But I don't care that much, even with the bad end this was one of the best game experiences I had in years. This is simply a wonderful game. Give it a try if you haven't done yet).

I got a bit further, so now instead of being stuck at 7% I'm stuck at 9%. But I am patient, so I expect to finish it by 2050 or so.

Re: Treasure Adventure Game
How can you get stuck that early in the game? In my eyes about the first 30% are extremely linear.

Re: Treasure Adventure Game
Nonlinearity hasn't got to do anything with ANY game's difficulty afaik, but certainly you can get stuck in this game if you don't watch environment carefully. So I guess it qualifies as an "exploration" game, a rather modern term related to free and indie titles. I discovered it for the first time reading about Seiklus, when it was released.

Re: Treasure Adventure Game
Not true in my eyes. There are lots of games that are nonlinear and so I get stuck, because I have no idea where to go and what to do. It can happen at "Treasure Adventure Game" too later on. But in the beginning this game takes you by the hand and pretty much tells you where to go and what to do. Of course you still can have problems, because you miss something or there are passages or boss monsters that you fail to beat.eMTe wrote:Nonlinearity hasn't got to do anything with ANY game's difficulty afaik...
