I used to live upstairs from a storage entry/shop dumpster. Let me tell you about all the people coming to scrounge anything that looked as if it might have been useful back in the Stone Age....

I myself throw out a lot of stuff that some people would probably gladly take for themselves.

speaking of the fun house...someone just called here telling my wife she won prize for the survey she filled out last week, she could choose between either a Slap Chop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUbWjIKxrrs or a three night paid for vacation anywhere in Canada...hmmm...what a choice...how does one choose?
Don't even get me started with these survey prizes and the people calling claiming that you've won some fabulous prize!

Maria answered the phone the other day at my place, it showed up as an "unknown caller" on the Caller ID. Some guy started telling her about some fantastic prize she had won "for filling out a survey". She firmly told the scumbag that she had not filled out any surveys for anyone, the the guy got mad and cussed her out. She hung up. About five minutes later the phone rang again, same thing on the caller ID.

I answered, and it was apparently the same guy. When he asked who I was, I sternly told him "I am her husband". He cussed ME out, and started some crap about "people who marry ****ing illegals". Then I hung up.

I wish there was some way to force the phone to reveal phone numbers. Would be even nicer if the phone companies stopped this unknown caller option. Wouldn't mind finding this scumbag and rearranging his face a little. You know, like Mr. Potatohead!

So Pager, how is your new Slap Chop working for you then??? :)

I watched some of the ad. Leaving you with this quote: "You're gonna love my nuts"!

And Raillo: Can't you guys do something like *69 or something... I always heard about that in movies.

I don't think *69 works if they have call block on, but I know you can dial *57 after you hang up to mark the call so you can notify the phone company and/or police to trace it in case someone is harassing you. It was something in the Wal-Mart procedures manual for bomb threats back when I was working there, but it can be used for harassment too. Courtesy of Google: https://www.privacyrights.org/fs/fs3-hrs2.htm

(Hmm... it sounds like you need to have the *57 feature specifically included in your phone plan)

As for the Slap Chop, I still prefer this version. :D I actually got someone a Slap Chop for Christmas last year. I saw it going for $20 at the local Hudson's Bay store and I couldn't resist. :)

@Chroelle: I have been wanting a Slap chop since that nut loving comment first graced my television.

@Tormuse: Greatest gift ever! Did it come with the Grady?

@Railio: That is absolute crap. I understand that those people have a brutal and frustrating job, but they don't have to get snarly. They should understand that when you say you've "won" something, don't try and turn it into a scam to get cash out of people. My grandparents went to Vegas once and someone told them they would give them a free tour of Vegas in a limo, so they agreed, and they took them all over the place, but then tried to sell them time shares, and when they refused, they threw my grandparents out of the limo in the middle of nowhere.

We have been getting about 4 calls a week from a duct cleaning service, the guy uses a different name and says he is calling from a different city everytime, but it is the same guy.

Thanks for the birthday wishes! :D (I'm glad somebody noticed!) :)

@Pager, no, the Slap Chop didn't come with the grady, :) but if you're really interested in getting one, they're pretty easy to find and inexpensive too! Just go to any store that has "As seen on TV" displays.

Id say Happy Birthday Tormuse, but I can only say Happy Belated Birthday Tormuse. It's one level below the standard Happy Birthday wishes on the ladder of overall wishes quality, but it radiates with the same warmth. :D

Still, I can say Happy Birthday Parvini.

Happy Belated Birthday Tormuse & Parvini. :) Sorry wasn't around to wish you earlier as I having been busy working overtime for past few days and finally got the weekend to relax.

The Slap Chop that you've all been discussing looks interesting in that it can open sideways to clean. Never seen this brand before, watching the video makes me feel like buying it, lol.

Speaking of scams, few weeks ago, my sister received an overseas call saying that there was something wrong with here computer and told her to login and follow some steps to do something. My sister of course ignore it as it totally does not make sense of how an overseas person (so far away) would know whether there is anything wrong with her computer when it is not even on.

Happy belated birthday Tormuse. :)

Haven't had much time this week. Been at work longer than usual, and if anyone is watching the Cycling World championships, then those were going on in the streets I live in and function in, so that has made some daily chores like parking and shopping rather tedious. The road to my work has been filled with television companies huge trailers, RV's and such... That also meant that I had to meet at work 7.00 3 times this week, to make sure that someone was there - lots of my co-workers were more or less locked out of the city because traffic was totally gridlocked.

Looking at the fun side of it, I imagine you'll be bouncing on it like jumping on jello.
Otherwise, you could even have as much fun as this guy :D

Thanks for the birthday wishes, eMTe, Chroelle, and JKSM, and Happy Belated Birthday to Parvini, if you're still around. :)

@Pater Alf, something that might interest you if you're around: I got back into playing DoomRL again recently after a hiatus of several months, and I just finished getting three Diamond Badges in one game! Woot! :D

And on a more somber note, BD (formerly OG) is no more. :( I never would have found any of you guys without that site. I feel like I should make a speech or something, but I can't think of anything to say, so maybe a moment of silence is better.

I wont comment the last section, because I commented the situation many times in the past... CWF is here, so let's focus on it and keep the forum alive.

Since we're on a birthday spree in last days/weeks (are there any believable surveys proving that most people are born rather in September and October than, for example, February and March?) and there's nobody on forum who I can wish hbd I'll just do it for somebody a little better known internationally than we all here.

Happy 60th Birthday, Sting!!! :D

Unbelievable run! And when I look at the comments, it seems I'm not the only one who thinks so ("Someone stop this guy, he's turning this great game into Sesame Street!"). The thing I like best are the 8776 lost souls you killed. :notworthy:

Heheh, yeah, the lost soul thing got kind of ridiculous. :P The comment I found most flattering was the guy who said I should have a rank named after me. :) Incidentally, the first guy who posted after me in that thread, Kornel, is the guy who made the game.
