Frightening babies always makes my day, so that seems pretty accurate.

*Reminding myself not to invite Scythe over for coffee....* Whenever I scare my big girl, she gets all jittery and drives herself to a hysteric cry, so having someone she doens't know come by, might secure me even less sleep at night than I am getting currently.

I have a bad track record being a big, nasty stranger who drives small children to tears, so yeah, that'd be safer.

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
Today (our bookstore has deliveries usually on Tuesdays or Wednesdays), among others we received some books wrapped in Finnish telephone book pages. Letter N to P. We rarely receive books wrapped in something so exotic, so we considered making prank calls for a moment, but decided it would be rather silly for people in their thirties. Besides, it costs. ^^

As it happens, the new phone directories made a big clunk noise when they were crammed through my mailbox yesterday. A couple of hours later I threw them to the recycle bin.

Its funny how we still use such archeologically ancient artifacts even today... (or well "use" might be a big word here - but distribute...)

There's money in it for the publisher, nothing else.Chroelle wrote:Its funny how we still use such archeologically ancient artifacts even today... (or well "use" might be a big word here - but distribute...)
I have no idea who believes advertising in a phone directory makes any sense, but apparently many people either do or the advertisers haven't heard about this thing called "internet".

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
I still use telephone books. I think I can often find the information needed there much faster than first start my computer and search for the same information in the internet.
But it seems I'm always a retro guy even when it comes to buying technical stuff. I bought myself a Playstation2 yesterday. It was sold for 75 Euro including the console, a controller, two microphones and a demo version of "Singstar" which is a pretty good price in my eyes. And as I never owned a console before, there are still hundreds of games waiting to be played by me

Re: The little Inn by the wayside

I ran my first half-marathon of the year today. I planned to run a time around 1:50, but to my own big surprise I ended up with a new personal best-time of 1:39:47 which means I reached rank 49 (out of 204) in my age group and rank 326 out of 1658 male runners and improved exactly 4 minutes since my last competition in october. And I thought I didn't train that well during winter...

Re: The little Inn by the wayside
GOOD JOB! I am still waiting to get my running going properly again, after this winters harsh weather and family conditions... No way I am going to run a half-marathon this year, but I am planning on getting my training up and running so well this year, that next years goal could very well be at least one half-marathon. Longest run this year will be my regular Eremitage-run with 13.31 km's.
I can't even find time (or energy) to run once a week currently... And it bugs me, as I know I would get more energy if I ran...

There was marathon in Cracow today. What a coincidence you talk about running.
