It doesnt look that nice without google logo acting as window, through which you can look at the ocean.

As for DoomRL, I feel Ive found great replacement for my validation post, in case something bad happens to my schedule. Only for this game of course, but who knows... :D

It was that one yes, but seen through a google logo shaped as nautical navigational devices. So you saw it like it was seen from an U-boat or something (Nautilus possibly).

I'm heavily impressed. I never got somewhere near to a Diamond badge. :notworthy:
Reminds me that I have to play this game again soon...

Wow! How about TWO diamond badges! I'm frankly amazed! I never thought I'd be able to get one, let alone two! I should buy a lottery ticket; my luck seems to be high right now! :)

EDIT: Also, they're beta-testing a new version of the game, so you might want to wait a bit before getting back into it. The new version sounds like it's got a lot of interesting features.

Heh, we'll see. If I get an opportunity where it seems appropriate to mention CWF, I'll do it. :)

NOW would be a good time. :)

Anyone up for a cup of coffee? I am off from work this week. I almost wrote that I was on vacation, because it is the same word here in DK. But the week is set up for getting a lot of baby preparation done, and some running, and some setting up of my new career that I am working towards. I am going to try and find some schools (the after school program that I work with currently - read an explanation lower) that will hire me as a consultant about how to make their websites more professional, and how to make their computershops more of a place of constructive gaming and work, instead of just putting on Counterstrike and leave the kids to themselves. I am also getting some courses ready that I am hoping that the city hall will pay to get me to do in the coming course-year (starting December 2011). I am pretty hyped about this. :)

Explanation of how the Danish public school system works: (Would be cool to hear about the other countries represented here as well).

Kids start school at age 5 (almost 6) in a kindergarten class where they have some teaching elements like learning the alphabet, and numbers and some simple adding and spelling. We are talking "Hi cow" here, nothing more advanced.
Then they go on to 1st grade where they are taught even more spelling numbers and such.
The kids that are in kindergarten class and up until 3rd class (so 4 years into their public education) can go to an after school program that is more of a leisure place, so a place where they more or less control how to spend the time. The SFO (School Freetime Program) are often setup with wood-shops, sowing-shops and other creative shops, and there are plenty of outdoors activities. Some sport a computerroom, and those often have a tendency to be more of a buffer for some of the more nerdy and/or uncontrollable boys. Counterstrike or similar are the most used game in these settings, and I think that is simply stupid! My setup is all about finding good games with a more creative, more timeconsuming (pr game), and more constructive or even artsy setup. (Think flow, Cloud, BlockCAD, etc.)
Also they should have the options of actually constructing something like cartoons (Toondoo.com) comics and animations (GoAnimate.com) and work with the expression they like with stuff like Glogster.com or Wix.com.

I will tell you more about this whole idea later on when I am done with my setup. I am currently thinking about contacting the Danish version of "Save the children", because they have a soft spot for kids and their online encounters and dangers. I sort of know a guy that could help me get my foot in the door there if I decide to go that way.

Sounds awesome Curly, hope you do get your foot in the door...it always helps!

My time off from work starts next week and I can't wait. I feel as if I am being ground down to nothing at work lately, as I have been having to de-centralize my role to the other departments because they feel that I am a single point of failure. Which is kind of true. But because of this, I find that I have been studying more, and plan to write my CCENT in the next couple of weeks. I'm starting to think development isn't my forte, and that going back into a more technical role will keep me more occupied with my time.

My biggest aspiration for next week is to finish Fallout New Vegas. Oh and maybe to finish the shelves in my bathroom. don't let me forget that I need to post pictures when it is fully done. I keep forgetting.

It's -21 degrees Celsius outside. :ninja: Or, as we Finns say, quite nippy. I might consider wearing a jacket outside if it drops anything below that, though.

And just maybe wear long pants.

We have -2 here and thats cold enough for the moment. We have close to 1 mm of snow - if we scrape it together in a corner... :)

We have had some pretty heavy chill factors recently with winds causing it to feel like -15 so I feel with you. And at least put on some kind of pants please! I dont care if they are long or short....

The funny thing about snow is that it usually only snows if the temperature is relatively close to zero. But yes, there is snow. There has been more snow than, like, ever in Helsinki. Which of course has been immensely fun for my tiny-legged companion.

But at least there's the sun again.

Well, Id almost forgot about the anniversary (due to my recent erratic and infrequent presence, besides I registered a bit later), but BBC News, CNN, radio, and official (loud :/) celebration march passing near my flat reminded me that it is indeed five years... Five years, sounds like eternity.

Youve already spotted the big CWF logo on the moon? Now, I wonder, what will our fanbase prepare for 10th anniversary? :D

No Google doodle for our birthday. Now I'm disappointed... :(

But serious, it can't be five years. Seems like yesterday that we started the site. Time really flies!

So :Birthday: , cheers  and thank you Chroelle for paying the bills every month! :king:

What can I say. :king:

I wonder if we should set up some form of contest soon, as we have talked about for the last 5 years or so - where some developer can make a game with some productplacement in it, and win a competition that grants him...something. And how do we get the word out there? If we could simply get some backup from places like AGS, GameMaker, different blogs where developers hang out - you know them, etc...

The winner gets: Any ideas anyone
Runners-up get: Any ideas anyone
How to spread the word: Anyone
Where do we get som form of prize?
Should we talk to someone that could then gain something from advertising with us during the competition or...?
Is anyone up for this idea?

Well, vacation is over, and I am back to work and with avengence I might add. I have meetings with all the parents individually this week monday, tuesday and thursday, and also an extra meeting wednesday, so my workweek is prolonged by about 8 hours...

That also means that I might not have the same drive that I did last week. I have however not lost my drive to get things done - just in another pace. :)

I wanted to buy a new pair of running shoes today. Finally I ended with two new pairs, a running belt and a bill of nearly 300 euro. I'm still happy, because I think I bought some good stuff and I will love running with it.

Chroelle, did you start running again?
