Exit Fate
"Exit Fate" is the long awaited new RPG by SCF, the developer of "Last Scenario".
The game is very much inspired by the Suikoden series (most of the background tiles are from Suikoden 2). This means that there are large war battles, you get your own castle, and there are a ton of characters to recruit (75 in total, and unlike in Suikoden all of them can be used in battle).
I can't say much about the story by now as I just have played for about an hour. Again there are two kingdoms at war, but I'm pretty sure there will be some interesting story twists in the end.
There are also some new features like a bribe system to avoid battles or the fact that you have to collect mana during battle before you can cast certain spells.
SCF uses lots of handdrawn backgrounds and characters again which really look beautiful. But it's a minor flaw that there is just one single character portrait for each character, which leads to the fact that portrait and character mood are not always consistent.
I will write some more about the game as soon as I played some more...

Great game! Again there are many interesting story twists, but the last one came a bit out of the sudden I think. Another thing that I can say is that the game is quite large. So far I played more than 25 hours and I don't think I'm somewhere near the end. But of course I tried to play all side quests and recruit as many characters as possible.
My favourite Characters:
a) A cat that I levelled up to level 35 by now. It can't wear any amour of course, but it can bring down a wolve or an orc with a single strike.
b) A rock musician who attacks his enemies by smashing his guitar on their heads
The character I dislike the most:
Angel: She is just whining all the time. I don't think there was a single sentence she spoke in the whole game so far that didn't piss me off.
There's just one thing that I really miss when I compare that game with "Last Scenario": The fantastic Hextile game. I really hoped that there would be something similar here as well. But the only thing you can do is play Blackjack against a single character and that isn't that much fun.

And now I also recruited a dog (but he's not a strong as the cat). I wonder if it's possible to get a whole party out of animals. I think I'll start looking for a killer cow...
BTW: Before I complained that there is nothing like the Hextile game. But instead there are many other cool features when you recruited the right characters. For example there is the possibility to simulate battles you fought before or even some new ones or the possibility to take interviews with all characters. Quite nice!
There are also lots of sidequests, so maybe this game is even better than "Last Scenario".

Re: Exit Fate
I got somewhere near the end and then didn't have the time to complete it. Since then I always think about completing it, but somehow I forgot what I was planning to do, so it's a bit hard to get back into action.
But I can tell you that this game is fantastic (even better than Last Scenario) and you will certainly not regret if you start playing (the only thing you might regret is that it will take away much of your freetime)!

Re: Exit Fate
I expect it to do so. So I am going to devote myself to some other more casual games until we finish our move I think, and then I can play this finally.
I also had it on my want-to-play list for so long that it is almost embarrasing...

Re: Exit Fate
I've gotten to the battle at Matrech coast. I couldn't beat it no matter how many times i tried, but then i realized that i have been neglecting the duty of finding recruits for my army. I only had six units to move around on the map, and the best i ever got was having only the enemy commander left and my own commander, a mage and a scout unit with very low HP. So now i've been looking at a walkthrough to get all the things i've missed in the progress up till now.

Re: Exit Fate
Finally completed this game after i-don't-know-how-many days.
Most of the time the game isn't especially immersive or epic, but it has many good moments. This game is like a book. It has a large amount of very good story content, so it's very long. And there is a massive amount of places to visit.

Re: Exit Fate
I finally opened this up for real and have passed through Alfheim now and I am going back to where I "left" my friends... Some annyoing battles like water blobs seems a little too early on or otherwise I have not figured out a good way to fight these. I try to level up around the field outside of Alfheim, but whenever I run into a pair of those blobs I am dead, and I of course do not go back to Alfheim to save after each battle so I loose all my progress since leaving the town - it has now happened 3 times... Does anyone have any advice how to kill these effectively with only Daniel and Fitch?

Re: Exit Fate
Nevermind. I figured it out. Levelling up did help and I figured out how the whole mana thing worked - that helped a lot, as all of a sudden I could defend until I was ready to cast some fire-damage... That made them some of the most easily beaten enemies from then on...
Great game so far. Only shutting it down to go to bed...

Oh oh, Chroelle started playing "Exit Fate" and "Doom, the Roguelike". I think we won't see him around a lot for the next few weeks (nor will his family)...

Edit: forgot i already said that in the other thread. Well; Exit Fate is ridiculously long. Just to be completely sure it's understood.

Re: Exit Fate
Just to make that statement even more valid: I am now 15 hours into the game and I am still just beginning the story it seems... I am currently starting to recruit members for my crew, and it is going fine for me with no real setbacks... Story is unfolding beautifully before me, and I get a sense of constant movement, and not so much a feel of levelgrinding though I am doing it a bit. It seems it is not vital in this game.
BTW: PA, can you let me in on how I get to recruit the Guitarist? I found him and his "band", and I have some ideas, but I would rather not pursue them if I can avoid that. There is a necromancer, a goth chick and a songwriter that I feel might help me get to this guy...am I on the right track?
And also the Mist-Monster fighter "Richard - forest Ranger"...how do I find him again. I cannot seem to find him anywhere in the forest, but I am unsure if I have to do the western highlands first...

Re: Exit Fate
It's been nearly two years since I've played this game, so I don't remember too clearly how I recruited certain crew members
.
But I still know that you can not recruit the guitar player until the band splits up. I think that will happen automatically at a certain point of the story (maybe after you got the castle?). Then you need another character to recruit him. Might have been the the goth chick, but I'm not sure.
About Richard, I still remember that I didn't found him in the beginning as well and in the end he was in a place quite easy to find. Did you look behind his house?
About the character I can tell you that the guitarist isn't a very good fighter, so you probably won't really need him. Richard on the contrary is very good when it comes to long distance attacks, so you should see that you get him as soon as possible. The one character I would recommend to find is the cat. It has great reflexes and nice attack skills. If you level it up till a certain point, it can bring down simple enemies with a single strike. One of the most valuable characters in the beginning of the game.

I searched for a while, but I fear there's no killer cow to be found...
The cat shows up in different places and you have to follow it. In the end you can catch it in the military barracks (?) of Bergstadt.
