Blockman Gets!! MORE!!!!

Post by jayenkai »

Download Linkage or
from CWF.

Everybody loved Blockman's adventure in a Pacman maze, so it seemed inevitable that there'd be a sequel.
But, So soon, Jayenkai!? You're turning into EA Games with your nasty so-soon sequels. What next, another JNKPlat!!!
... maybe later.

In the meantime, here's Blockman Gets More, a magical Pacman Puzzle adventure, where not eating will kill you!! (or move you onto the next level, depending on whether you've eaten enough.)

Download Linkage

Controls
You can either use Cursors, WASD or a joystick/pad (assuming you've enabled it in the options)

C, L or one of the Joystick/pad's face buttons will change the camera to one of three preset zooms. Standard is the full view, close is quite nice assuming you know the layout of the maze and are sure there's something on the other side of that wraparound, and even closer is too close and completely unusable while playing. ..
So, probably best not to use the Camera button, unless you're after some nice big juicy screenshots.

A lovely great big game, with more-than-usual care taken, complete with super great big chunky sprites, and even a handdrawn bitmap font for the game.. Something I haven't done since the mid 90s!!

Go get more Blockman Gets More!!!

Still not your best game, but I like it much better than "Blockman Gets!" mainly because there are more arcade elements and more different game modes. It doesn't feel that empty anymore and with the arcade elements (and the better level design) you will loose lives much faster which makes the game more challenging.

How odd.
I actually thought I went overboard with this one.
If you play this, and then original next to each other, I personally feel the original was better. The first one had much smaller maps, and let you plan ahead better, whereas this one is much more open, and isn't as tight. The tightness of the maze was what, imo, made the first one a better puzzler.

Sure, this is much more arcadey, but it's a bit pants at being a puzzle game.

This is another of those "It's neither one, or the other" issues that I tend to have a lot. But.. I dunno, this isn't MEANT to be Pacman. It's meant to be different, and I think the first one showed that more.

I think the first one was a bit boring mainly because you were able to perfectly plan your way through the maze. Without even a timer or some other dangers you could play it for hours without even loosing one time. For "Blockman Gets! More!!" feels much more than a real game.

And I don't think that genre mixtures are a bad thing. Many of your games are quite unique because you do this kind of stuff.
