I have created a (freeware) remake of the DOS game "Paratrooper" (1982). In this game you have to defend your base against paratroopers and jet bombers, using the big cannon. Each shot costs one point so in order to get the best score not too many bullets should be wasted. Once four paratroopers have landed they will destroy your gun. The two dogs next to your base (not present in the original Paratrooper) can kill a paratrooper but after doing so they will sleep for quite some time...
- name: Mano Trooper
- genre: shooter/arcade
- who made it: Foppygames, with music by coda (http://coda.s3m.us)
- release date: September 8, 2010
- controls: left and right arrow keys to aim, space bar (or Z or Y) to shoot
- download link: http://www.foppygames.nl/Downloads/manotrooper.zip (3.6 MB)
The above link is for the Windows version, I also have OS X versions on my homepage (http://www.foppygames.nl).
I hope you like this game! Some more info: It was written in Blitz Max. Sound effects were made using Dr. Petter's SFXR program.
I remember that I played this game on my old C64. Haven't thought about it for a while (as it wasn't one of my favourite games), but now that you made a remake, I will download an play it right away...

I haven't played it yet either, but I really liked the little update with the dogs. I always hated that you couldn't do anything about the troopers that landed.
Currently testing Life version 2.9 (With added second child)
(Beta testing in progress)
Well done! Even if it is a little frustrating that you can survive for quite a while and still end up with zero points. Would be better if the weapon would overheat when you fire too much.
I think my best score was 30 so far...

*starts playing* hey this seems quite easy.. oh. you're not supposed to fire so much.. It got a bit more challenging when i found out you should conserve your shots to get a good score. this game is actually quite good. i got a score of 96 on first try
hmm Blitz programs always appeal a bit more to me...
The gameplay is good, and it generally plays really well. I didn't play the original paratrooper so i don't know if the gun is supposed to rotate until you shoot. I think it would have been more easy if it only rotated as long as you held the keys down, but maybe it's supposed to add some difficulty.
