Ultimate Bruce Lee

Post by eMTe »

Another cooperation of one of the most successive development ensembles. Ultimate Bruce Lee is not only a remake with enhanced graphics, but features also several different gameplay modes to unlock and also original game. Pretty much more than anyone expected.

Developer: Ovine by Design

By the screenshots you can quickly tell that remake of Myth is in the making... ;)

There are 3 modes of play for this game (at first) so there should be lots of stuff to look into in the beginning.

Good fun to play this game, and I really enjoeyed the update in graphics. Works very well.

First of all I have to say that "Bruce Lee" was the first game I owned on my Commodore 64 and iirc the remake of "Bruce Lee" was the first game we hosted on CWF. So this one gets a nostalgia bonus for sure.

Good thing is that it doesn't need it. Again Ovine by Design created a very true remake. They left the whole spirit and the level design (which is still brilliant) of the game untouched, improved the graphics and added some extras. So now there are three different modes (which differ more or less only in graphics) and seven more modes to unlock.

And there are also two 2-player modes (vs. and cooperation). If you want you can use them to cheat a little. Just choose the "vs." mode and there will be one opponent less (the stronger one) that gets in your way.

There's a minor glitch when you change the controls to joystick. It works fine during the game, but not in the menues, but that's the only flaw I can see.

Good quality game, that has a lot of playtime in it. I didn't know the original, but i can see that this is a well made game in any case.

Just play the classic mode or the remake we have on the site and you'll know the original game.

Played this over-and-over-and-over as a Kid. Must've completed it hundreds of times. Awesome game!
Loved the "tippity tippity tap -- Swoosh!" run and jump sound :D

(*and might've nicked it, and put it in JNKPlat!)

I really liked this remake, as it always annoyed me to play the classic with the miniature graphic. I am propably too used to being spoiled with new graphic that is way bigger. This is a gem, and a must-try.
