Originally titled PadMod and created in 2004 Padman (padman is a name of Playstation's magazine comic strip hero) became standalone when source code for Quake Arena was released and has been in active development since.
Game is primarily online multiplayer, but offline gamers can play with bots.

Re: World of Padman
I am not the best FPS-player on the internet - heck I am not even sure I am in the top 100.000.000. But still this game has a lot of appeal. Like Quake it has lots of different weapons, powerups, pickups you dont know what does and you wil propably never need - but they are shiny.
Lots of different levels, great bot-AI so playing multiplayer with bots is very pleasing, and not the fragfest it sometimes turns out to be in other games. I like this - I like it alot!

Well, arguably this is a commercial quality game. It has great multiplayer gameplay, also the bots are convincing, and some colourful and varied levels.

I just wanted to try this game for some minutes yesterday night and ended up playing "Capture the Lolly" for more than two hours. I really like this game. The only problem I had was that it was sometimes hard to tell from which team a certain player was (e.g. a blue monster with no clothing except a red trouser).

Re: World of Padman
Did anyone else experience the strange effect that because of the colourful environment and the cartoony characters you automatically think that the players are more friendly?
In other FPSs I always feel bad as a noob, because I don't know the basics of the game, normally get shot after five seconds and am nothing but a burden for my team. But here I felt completely welcome. Strange!

I remember being some what surprised the first time I played it and got fragged instantaniously. I think you are right. It was propably the colors that lulled me into a false sense of cozyness.
