Hyperfire
Arcade Shooting
Windows, Intel Mac
Released July 4, 2008
Developed by: Gamma Prime Arcade RAD Team S
Created by Gamma Prime Games
Hyperfire is the first game Gamma Prime has released. Modeled to be an arcade shooter in the early 80's mold, the game is very simplistic. Due to its authentic feel and pure addictiveness, the game is actually a lot of fun.
"I was playing around with some development tools I had, notably Visual C++ and the Allegro Library. I was always a fan of old Konami games, notably Gyruss and Juno First, the latter of which this is heavily inspired by. I ended up making this little title while waiting for Fizz to finish sprites." - Marc Marta
I was actually pretty entertained by this, and the whole retrofeel of it. It reminded me of arcade-slotmachines as promised by the introduction, and as such I like it.
Currently testing Life version 2.9 (With added second child)
(Beta testing in progress)
The game is a bit too retro for my taste. And I don't like that it's sometimes simply impossible to avoid being shot. Would have been great if you could move up and down as well to have a better chance.
Also I think that catching the claws makes too many bonus points. You have to shoot down a lot of UFOs to get the score of just one caught one claw.
