Theseus - Return of the Hero

Post by Pater Alf »

Ok, after the last game I submitted was a bit crappy (eMTe knows what I talk about), here's a pretty good one again...

In "Theseus - Return of the Hero" you have to survive in a hostile post-apocalyptic world that is populated by hordes of aliens that killed most of the human race. There are two different game modes (Campaign and Survival), 6 different weapons and lots of upgrades for the hero you can purchase during the game.

Here's what the developer wrote about it:

"Theseus - Return of the Hero is the logical sequel to Alien Shooter.

Despite all the human efforts to resist monster invasion, the blood-thirsty creatures keep occupying new territories. Theseus, the hero of this game, arrived in a small European town and got into the very middle of such a battle. Of course Theseus immediately joins the fight against the aliens.

In the Theseus - Return of the Hero game you will find:

- 10 missions, mostly taking place in open spaces;
- lots of playing locations: forest, village, highway, city battles etc;
- 6 types of weapons;
- ability to upgrade the main character;
- inventory shop where you can buy newest equipment between missions."

System Requirements:
Pentium II 400 MHz processor
Direct3D compatible 3D graphics card with 16 MB
64 MB RAM
DirectSound compatible sound card
Mouse compatible device

Perfect shooter game if you ask me. Fast-paced, bloody as hell, with hordes of blood-thirsty aliens that storm after you from all sides at once. You have 6 different weapons to kill them (but you have to find or purchase them first) and very soon the whole screen will turn red from all the blood. What more can you expect from a shooter game?

The graphics are very nice and detailed (especially the background graphics), the rock soundtrack is excellent and makes a good part of the atmosphere. Controlling with keyboard and mouse works great (but you better have a mouse with a scrollwheel, because you will have to switch between the weapons real fast sometimes).

Can't find anything negative except of the AI (which is a bit low), but because of the sheer amount of aliens (I think there were 392 in level two) you might be happy about this.

I must agree on every point. This might very well be one of my new favourite games in here. An amazing game with lots of action - and when I say lots you dont know the half of it. Try it - and then try not to sit in the corner with your back against the wall aiming at every little shadow with your flashlight!

Well, I want to finish the campaign before passing final judgement, but I like it so far.

Got a little easy near the end of the campaign, but a great game! Good graphics, lots of action and fair variety in the stages.

I tend to die in the same plae over and over again.
I am attacked by spiders, and bats it seems in huge numbers. This is the first run-in with the bats. Any advice anyone?

The same as usual: Run backwards, fire with the shotgun at the creatures that follow you and try to get cover behind a corner, so not all enemies will follow you. Or fire at some barrels and make them explode, so you don't have to mess around with too many foes.
