LinCity-NG

Post by eMTe »

Improved version of LinCity with 3D graphics and new sounds, but with identical gameplay and possibility of reading old LinCity files.

LinCity was originally developed only for Linux, but now all major OSes are supported.

Original site:

http://lincity.sourceforge.net/

Modern version:

http://lincity-ng.berlios.de/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

Developers: VARIOUS

I put it in development forum, since as every freeware sim it will be developed eternally probably. Game looks stable, but many bugs still exist. To decide where to put it.

I didnt have time to search around, but it seems only Dutch version exists atm. Or maybe only screenies are in Dutch.

It is indeed playable. And when you get past initial difficulties and begin to understand the game better, then you will be entertained. However this is not Simcity, where you can expand your city to double its size in a year in the first years. This game is more micromanagement, with supply of goods, housing, raw materials, public education and with a limit called tech level. It will take you a while to get to higher levels of education, and you will end up using the fast forward button quite a lot, since you can hardly build anything at first, and the better buildings dont come till later. The game givees you a feel of starting a city from more than 100 years ago, and building it up to becme a bigcity though - and that is a good thing!

Very cool and a good idea. It looks alot similar, which is always good when someone decides to do a remake or an online version.
