Expect: Scythes absence - lost of rambling about east-asian movieclassics you never heard of - but that you might be somewhat enriched by watching. :)

Well I have nothing really coming up that needs my attention like that, other than I am going to change workschedule sooner than expected. A colleague fo mine is pregnant and is suffering the same way as Tanja was, so I have to take her turn at the schooldesk before I was supposed to. This means ealier days and Fridays off at 1. So if it is possible for me to get to a computer it means more of me in here, while if I am not able to get to a computer after work, then it means a little less of me.

HAPPY (very belated) BIRTHDAY MAZ!
Sorry I missed your birthday last week, but I hope you had a good one, and that it was memorable!
Just remember, regardless of your lifestyle, they're doing amazing things with baboon organs and crushed pigs' livers these days, so there's no harm in thinking all of us will live to be at least 150 years old :D

On that note, Pager, my sister was in Indiana a few weeks ago, and she and a couple friends of her's there went to check out the cemetary and see how old some of the gravemarkers were.

Well, she had found one that read as the person's name, and from 1917 (I think) to 20--. The 20- was crossed out and below it was inscribed '1999' and below that:

"She was an optimist"

Didn't quite make it.

Somehow, I think we all would be healthier if we didn't pump ourselves full of artificial chemicals used in foods and drinks. I also am not a fan of plastics, especially used in food storage, and often wonder if life expectancy would go up if it wern't for this artificial nonsense.

So, I started using AGS a few days ago. I've poked around a bit and think I can make a quasi-interesting game with it...

But I have realized something...Picasso I am not. I've been trying to draw some stuff using GIMP, and I have been having a lot of difficulty drawing straight lines...

I think I need to get a better drawing tool. Something like an awesome version of PC Paint, that uses a boat load of colours, and let's me zoom right in...anyone know of something that is free?

Try paint.net

You can get it from download.com

http://download.cnet.com/Paint-NET/3000 ... ?tag=mncol

I use it for a lot of photo editing for websites and eBay.

Thanks for the input guys!
I actually worked something out. I am using PC Paint to build outlines, and skeletons, and using the effects from GIMP to complete it. It's working out kind of nicely.

Now I just need to make some cool looking backgrounds, and work on the story. But, for the most part the tool issue is over.

Can you make a thread about it in "under development", and maybe post some very early shots of it. Remember that you have some guys here that might want to chip in with some stuff if you can use them... HINT!

Just in case that anyone wonders why I'm hardly around at the moment: It's just two more weeks till the Leipzig halfmarathon and so I spend most of my freetime for training at the moment. I hope to get the run done in under two hours, but I think it depends very much on the weather if I can really do it.

Another thing that takes away much time is the fact that I decided to buy myself a flat (prices are really low at the moment because of the finacial crisis). Finding the right one for a nice price and setting up the contract wasn't that easy, but it's nearly done (at least I hope so).

So these activities didn't leave much time the last few weeks. But my vacation starts on Friday and I hope that I will have some time to play and validate some games then.

I was wondering, but it is nice to know the reason why. :)

Be sure to let us know how it turns out for you. I am beginning to believe I might be running the half-marathon in the fall too. My running is really going well this year, and the sooner I get in shape the longer I think I can run in the fall, so maybe 26(?) kilometers isn't that bad by then.

What kind of flat are you buying - size and such? We are selling ours at the moment, and the real estate agent told us yesterday that he was sure he could sell it within the next half year, and at a prize we would like. He is sure he knows exactly how to sell off the apartment - but then again we made it easy on him building that huge kitchen-dining room. 30 square meters of pure kitchen delight, with appliances you only dream of normally. :)
I wonder how I will adapt to moving into a smaller kitchen...?

The flat I'm going to buy is a three room flat (plus kitchen and bathroom). Size is 68 sqm. It also has a small balcony. The house is in a good shape (it was renovated in 1998) and it is settled in one of the most popular parts of town (with lots of cultural activities and pubs around). As everything goes as planned I'll get it for under 50000 euros which is a very good price in my eyes.

About the half-marathon: It's just something about 21 kilometres. Just in case that it helps you to make off your mind.

I dont know how my head calculated half of 42,6 (+) into being 26... :brainfarts:

Sounds great with the apartment though!

I'm a bit back after being a bit away. Blame 10% work and 88% weather. ^^

Anything devastating or particularly happy happened?

Getting permissions for GameTop games is indeed a great news. Forget my post in other forum... Something big indeed happened!

I ran the half-marathon today. First of all I made it, but I'm not really content with the time. It was very sunny with about 20 degree celsius. First part of the course was partly in the shadow, but after 7 kilometres there was just the noon sun and no shadow at all. I ran the first 10 kilometres in 50 minutes, but after 15 kilometres I began to die. Somewhere near the end I had to walk for a while (something that never happened before during training) and I ended up with a time of 2:01:19. So I didn't reach my goal to get it done under 2 hours...:(

Congrats. A minute and 19 secs over your goal-time is almost inhumane... I know the feeling of having to walk, when it really doesn't suit you - feels like a small defeat. Remember that you did what you wanted to do primarily - YOU RAN THE HALF-MARATHON. Try asking how many in here did that!
I am running the quarter-marathon :) this sunday. 10.1 kilometers. I am hoping to get below 1 hour 5 minutes. That would be a good time for me. :)

I was quite good in long distance runs when I was teenager. I even won a couple of school competitions. That was then. Now I prefer to raise my belly, at least in winters. :D

Ill start riding to work with bike from 1st May though. I wouldve start it already, but I bought monthly tram ticket at the beginning of April when there was still a bit to cold for bike (I have over 6km ride, mostly through long, open, windy street) and i hate to lose money. Besides, it's better excuse than laziness, which is the true one. :)

For something completely different. Has anyone noticed this? Slowly, but steadily meters going up.
