Domination

Post by Pater Alf »

A very good Java version of the classic board game "Risk". You can play single player mode against up to 5 computer opponents (with two different AI) or multiplayer mode against friends (online or hotseat).

There are also different maps you can choose from (for example Middle-Earth).

So try to conquer the world!

It lacked in sounds and a little in graphics. I would have loved to have seen small men-pieces move around the board. However the gameplay is fully adapted, and I can ask no more of a game like this.

Domination MULTIPLAYER?

Post by bigakstuff »

Recentley downloaded Domination Risk, and love it. Had a family member do the same so we could play online against eachother. A little confused on the setup though. Following the directions it tells you to 'start server', click 'join game' , then name your game, then give your IP address to whoever wants to connect with you. They then choose the 'Join Game' option, then enter your IP address to connect to your room. This has not worked. We have tried having eachother create the room so that the other may try to join them, but we keep getting an 'Unable to connect' popup. Both of us seem to create a room just fine, but can't seem to have anyone be able to join them.

Has anyone been able to play other people through a network or online? If so, how did you do it? We would like to know if we are doing something wrong, or if you have to purchase the game instead of using the free version in order to play online. Any help would be great, as the directions and help features leave something to be desired!! Thanks!

Sorry, I can't help you with that question as I haven't played online (just against computer opponents and hotseat games). Maybe there is something wrong with your firewall settings?

From what I can see from the official homepage it should be possible to start online games, but sometimes they speak about using hamachi (no idea what it is). Maybe you can find your answer there.

You surely don't have to buy the game, as it is a freeware game and you don't get any special extras if you make a donation.

Maybe you should write a mail to the developer and ask him what to do. His mail adress is in the readme file.

Oh and please come back to tell us if you get it to work. I would love to play this with some friends.
